Just as Michelle Obama returned from her much-criticized luxury vacation to Spain, which cost the U.S. taxpayers an estimated $400,000, her husband cut $11.9 billion from the Food Stamp program, designed to help the poorest Americans.
The cut, along with tax increases to businesses is supposed to pay for an aid package to several states, mostly to prevent the layoff of about 160,000 public school teachers and administrators.
Of course, the teachers’ unions are tremendous contributors to the Democratic Party, and were instrumental in putting Obama in office. The move is seen by many as a payback for their support.
What is so hypocritical is the fact that Obama made the cut in the Food Stamps program, while he expects the taxpayers to pick up the bill for the First Lady’s trip to Spain.
Michelle Obama flew into Spain on Air Force Two with a 68-member security detail, her large personal staff, and 40 of her closest friends.
She and her entourage booked 60 rooms at the posh five star Villa Padierna resort.
The Obamas are now planning a trip to Martha’s Vineyard…their ninth vacation since taking office.
At a time when 1 in 5 Americans is either out of work or underemployed, and record bankruptcies and foreclosures are the order of the day, seeing the First Lady embark on a trip that has some calling her “our Marie Antoinette,” leads one to believe the Obamas are insensitive and out of touch with their own country.
However, actually taking food out of the mouths of those who are literally in danger of starving, while taking nine vacations on the public’s dime…is inexcusable.

I agree. I am on foodstamps now and can hardly survive on the meger amount they give me. If it weren't for the 99 cent store I would starve. And now, this cut will be substantial. Like about $50 shaved of a month.
I agree as well, I am on foodstamp and can't hardly feed my family, my state doesn't pay much in cash assistance and now they want to cut foodstamps... I work and go to college, how am I suppose to concentrate on school when I have to worry about my children eating... I mean this rather constradicting, they want you to get an education, or work but then they cut off or down the means of doing so... Why don't they just cut their budget instead.. They living good and taking expensive vacation on my tax money while we are staving what a joke and to think I vote for him because I thought he would make change.. Yeah he made changes for the worst not for the good of America.. He is giving other country more money then he give his own, wow! He take from us to give to them and they call this country free.. If you want to cut something, cut off people who drink Alcohol and drug from Social Security Disability, and people who can actually work.I could cutting food stamps if you don't work or go to college, that should be a stipulation, to who should be cut down on or off but for everybody I really don't see it. But what I do see in the future is world war III if they don't cutting thing people need most to survive.. People are going to turn against the government!! Is Obama a Republican or a Democrat... Well it's looking like he is a Republican faking to be a Democrat!! I mean Democrats help the poor and working class not only selective working class and the rich.. What is being cut from the rich, I guess nothing, that's my point. You are an idiot. Drinking alcohol is LEGAL for ANYONE over 21(sometimes 18), REGARDLESS of whether they are on disability or not. And so you are also an expert on who CAN work and who CANNOT.
And yes, I am disabled, suffering from nerve and tissue damage from decades of strenuous heavy maintenance work. I worked my *ss off doing a job harder than ANYTHING you have probably ever done(you probably work in an office at a computer every day...oh what hard work, waa, waa).
I was approved for disability after only 3 months and have been seeing a doctor constantly for 11 years and am in constant pain, so don't you DARE include me in a list of "people who can work".
YOU DISGUST ME.
I can only HOPE that sometime in the future you will suffer the same thing I have and then I can say "you can work, you just don't want to".

I honestly didn't get into politics very much, I know I never voted for Obama but a lot of people did, obviously. When he won I thought, 'Okay, that is really good for him but I hope he can back up what he promised people.' (He reminded me of my ex-husband a bit....yes EX.) My son and I are on food stamps and without them I don't know what we would do. My son has a VERY serious heart condition and when he needs open heart surgery I have to take MONTHS off which leads to me getting fired. Not only am I dealing with that I am going to school (which God-willing I will be done within 10 months) I am also trying to find work again which as we all know hasn't been going well for anyone in the country. I am young and I know I don't know all I can but I do know that my son needs food to grow and the food stamps pays for the food that helps him grow and regulates his medicines. I understand that she is worried about our national weight, which is a good concern. I don't eat unless my son is full because food stamps now don't cover the HEALTHY food she wants them to eat. I myself am 15 lbs UNDER weight because of this while my son is right on the edge of being too skinny, that is not to say that his bone structure is small but the doctors do look at that when they talk to me. I do understand some people are overweight but I'm tired of getting punished for other people’s problems. So my main question is why does the first lady want my son to starve?
Has anyone bothered to comment on how many trips and how expensive the trips were from previous Presidents that are the cause of our country's problem. Does anyone bother to see that a balance has to be made, we are a country that stands together, one nation, sometimes we have to suffer in order to make sure it stays that way. I am on food stamps, I work 2 jods, I have 3 disable persons in my family, I know what it means to struggle, I also know know how to give til hurts. The only way we are going to get through is to help each other learn to take less and give more.
