NRA controversy flares up again over Harry Reid

Following NRA head Wayne LaPierre's endorsement of extremist Leftwing Democrat Harry Reid in Nevada, the organization has been embroiled in a controversy that threatens its credibility and relevance.

(AP Photo/Charles Dharapak, File). Harry Reid.

NRA members by the hundreds, if not thousands, have expressed outrage that the organization's leading spokesman would go out of his way to extol the virtues of Reid at a time when the nation faces its most dire Constitutional crisis since the Civil War.

And now, the controversy has flared  up again as organization insiders report that the NRA itself, in addition to LaPierre, will endorse Reid over patriot Sharron Angle, the Tea Party favorite, in the race for the U.S. Senate in Nevada.

Conservative Examiner reported previously that Wayne LaPierre's endorsement of Reid is a signal that the NRA as an organization is on the same page.  And unless NRA members inundate the central offices of the organization to protest the pending endorsement, then the thing is a done deal.

An endorsement of Reid will lead directly to multi-thousands of NRA members dropping out of the organization and tearing up their membership cards for good.  Many have done so already.

Why is this issues such a sticking point?  After all, the NRA admits that it is a 'single-issue' organization and that it will essentially endorse anyone, particularly incumbents, who will vote in favor of NRA-endorsed legislation, even if those very same individuals also vote for the most horrifying attacks against liberty that this nation has ever witnessed.

One can assume, given the NRA's own admission concerning its standards, that the organization would endorse unrepentant domestic terrorist William Ayers as long as Ayers voted for some key gun rights legislation, although he believes that bombing federal buildings is a good thing and that the U.S. Constitution is basically irrelevant.

Harry Reid has been no friend of the Constitution.  His many votes in the U.S. Senate, in addition to his many statements as Senate Majority Leader since 2006 when the Democrats took control of Congress, indicate without doubt that he is a dangerous 'progressive' who thinks the Constitution stands in the way of 'human progress toward fundamental change in government.'

But Reid has voted in favor of enough NRA-endorsed gun legislation to please the moguls in the organization's leadership.  Thus, they stand ready to issue an official endorsement.

So, in other words, Reid has bought off the NRA with enough votes for guns to cause the organization to look the other way while he votes to dismantle the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, gives a glowing review of anti-gun Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan, and supports a host of various bills that in the end undermine the very gun rights the NRA claims is its 'single issue.'

There is still time to stop the NRA from making this terrible mistake.  Members can call the organization and register their protest and state in no uncertain terms that if it endorses Reid they will cancel their membership.

the NRA knows the game well...in Reid, they have a known entity...in Angle, they have a loose gun...she ahs alrady misspoken and hidden from the press...she does not make for a solid candidate....the NRA knows this and knows that chances are good that Angle will botch up her race for office before election time...YOU might forgive everything Angle says and does because your really want Reid out, but the majority of middle of the road to the left will not...the NRA knows this and backs Reid as the probable winner.

I, like many, are or have given up our membership in the N.R.A. and have no trust in LaPierre....he sleeps with the enemy and is nothing better than a common prostitute! The N.R.A. isn't the only gun rights organization out there....I'm sure that Heston, if still alive, would have turned in his N.R.A. membership card by now, and probably would have told LaPierre where he could put his !

The thing that really sticks in my craw about this whole matter is the NRA's contention that gun rights can be separated from liberty as a whole. Such 'reasoning' is imbecilic. By endorsing politicians that vote consistently against the liberties protected in the Constitution, the NRA actually winds up advocating AGAINST gun rights, not for them.

if the MRA becomes an arm of the republican party, they lose about one third of their members...believe it or not, the NRA has many democrats and independents... and don't even try to say that they would get new republican members to replace them...you've seen here exactly how loyal those republicans are (how many are saying they are dropping their NRA memberships again???)

Do only Republicans stand for liberty, you jerk? This is an AMERICAN issue, a CONSTITUTIONAL issue, a LIBERTY issue, and it really doesn't matter what Party it involves. Harry Reid is an enemy of liberty because he has done nothing but serve as the slave of Obama in the Senate--pushing through the Emperor's subversive agenda no matter what. I also have the same problem with Snowe, Graham, Collins, and to a great degree, McCain--all Republicans. So get off this common attempt of yours to send out a red herring. Hey Anthony,

The poor Mollusk Molester simply doesn't 'get it'.

Per the usual Social Progressive drivel he usually spews, he simply can't stand nor empirically refute, actual real world facts, evidence, or logic.

When you present such to him, he pops up with his 7th grade idiocy, whining to the proverbial Nth Degree, and then shells out some SP mantra that has no relation whatsoever to the actual subject matter.

The poor Mollusk Molester can't even wrap his empty head around the concept of free speech carrying with it RESPONSIBILITY: from his SP view, there is ZERO personal responsibility associated with Free Speech, which is why he puts out unsupportable pablum and then when confronted with it, whips out a quote from a Founding Father, wholly out of context.

I've debated with many SP's on my pages (Casper Coffee Examiner and Casper Christianity Examiner) and they simply cannot reason logically.

    Sad, but true.

Have a great 4th and good work again!

Hello all, you can get into the nitty gritty of the article, but here is something for everyone to look up:

Remember the Tea Party kick-off in Search Light, Nevada, Harry Reid's hometown? One week later, NRA chief, Wayne, had an event with Harry to prop him back up. Look it up.

Also, Wayne and Chris Cox are both DEMOCRATS. They are NOT friends of conservatives. Wayne started his political career on the Hill as a Democrat staffer.

Check out Chet Edwards in TX. The history is there. The NRA AND Bush opposed "Guns in the cockpit" after 9-11, and GOA pushed it through and the NRA came on board AFTER it was a done-deal.

One last thing, the NRA is by NO MEANS a single issue organization. They are an 800 pound gorilla on The Hill. They could have stopped Healthcare, just as they acquiesced and helped GOA stop the beginnings of statehood for DC.

The NRA is a "political" organization. Their "political" goal is to increase their "political" influence in regards to issues related to guns. That's their responsibility to their members.

    Period.

Angle, who is one of the most uncompromising legislators I've seen, simply has NO play, which is what the Tea Party loves, but "politically" it is a big loser.

Think. If some democrat in Virgina is placed in a position where he is being pressured to screw with gun control laws, and Reid calls him, saying, "Back off. I'll make sure the senator from NC doesn't steal your federal projects for logging when the next bill comes up". Or, they ask Angle, who tells them that she doesn't play those games, and hangs up.

No matter how dirty it seems, it is the job of the NRA to control liberals from increasing gun control.

Burning your cards because they are doing their job is weak-minded and childish. If the Tea Party supported someone who could do the job, she'd have their suppo

The surest way to preserve "the people's right to keep and bear arms" is to elect a Republican majority to the Senate. When the GOP held the majority in the Senate, the NRA didn't have worry about gun control legislation being passed in Congress. The best way to insure a GOP majority in the Senate is to elect Republicans to the Senate. I cannot see how endorsing a Democrat Senator that supported Brady and the Assault Weapons ban can help insure a Republoican majority in the Senate! If the NRA endorses this anti-liberty leftist progresive I will cancel my membership, which I have held for over 45 years in that organization.
