Breaking--Issa's inaction: is the fix in?

Earlier today it was reported that Congressman Darrell Issa had fired off a letter to Attorney-General Eric Holder demanding that the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform have access to at least 3 DOJ officials who either have been shielded from the committee or have pleaded the 5th.

Issa's committee is investigating the gargantuan scandal of 'Operation Fast and Furious' that now engulfs the Holder Justice Department and much of the Obama Administration.

However, if appearances are to be trusted, it would seem that other than Issa's letter, the response of the committee to the scandal of late has been characterized by inaction, thus begging the question, "Is the fix in?"

This very question was asked this afternoon by investigative reporter Mike Vanderboegh after being told yesterday that the Issa committee would have a major announcement today, and after having a chance to take a look at what, exactly, Issa and the committee did to put teeth to the letter Issa sent to Holder.

The answer? Not much.

Issa flew off to Davos to cavort with global elitists at a meeting that is sure to set the tongues of conspiracy theorists a-wagging. And before he left he said nary a word about what he intends to do with Holder and the DOJ's year-long effort at stonewalling the committee.

And with the Republican Party elites making it clear so far in the 2012 Presidential race that they have no intention of picking a true, dyed-in-the-wool conservative but are instead determined to shove either a Massachusetts RINO or a tainted ex-Speaker who cut deals with Nancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton down the throats of the citizens, it is not entirely unreasonable to suggest that there is a distinct possibility that Issa and other establishment Republicans may have opted for 'the fix' rather than save the country from the current corruption and tyranny.

Further, National Gun Rights Examiner David Codrea, upon further investigation into Issa's letter, concluded that the entire display is thoroughly wimpy and lacking in any real consequence for the failure of the Holder Justice Department to comply:

I announced rightly that the committee was going to have an announcement this morning. But I didn't expect how truly wimpy it would be. Morrissey has until 5 o'clock Eastern today to respond to the committee. No one expects him to come forward, even though he is a Bush appointee. And why should he? Where are the threats of contempt of congress? Where is the plain talk of doing unto Holder as he has been doing unto them? So I understand why the Three Amigos in the Phoenix U.S. Attorney's office are clamming up. What do they gain by coming forward now? The committee has made much sound and fury, but so far indications are that it signifies nothing. Recall that I previously reported that the Issa people have even cut off the flow information to Grassley's office. Recall that the committee made much noise in letters about going after Kevin O'Reilly and seeking information about the March 2009 meeting between Newell and the White House. None of that, I am told, will be mentioned at the upcoming hearing. Believe me when I tell you that I am not the only reporter, mainstream or Internet, that is wondering just what the hell is going on here. The frustration is palpable, and we compare notes in mutual mystification.

In short, something fishy is going on here, and the stench is becoming rather stifling.
