A "pivotal week" in Gunwalker probe

In a panoramic article today that takes a look at the broad picture regarding the Gunwalker scandal, American Thinker states that this has been "one pivotal week for Fast and Furious." And every indication points to the fact that the coming week will be even more pivotal.

Major breaking news concerning the scandal has already begun to make its rounds among bloggers and alternative news sites. But in order to put these events in proper perspective, it is important to look at several items that have occurred within the last week that shed new light on the Fast and Furious investigation.

First, the AT article indicates that the Project Gunwalker scandal, or Operation Fast and Furious, is swirling into a major cyclone that no one, not the Administration and not the mainstream media, can stop. That cyclone now threatens to sweep up into its vortex anyone whose hands were even slightly dirtied by participating in the scheme.

On Tuesday, October 25, Congressman Darrell Issa and Senator Charles Grassley sent a letter to Attorney-General Eric Holder demanding that he provide answers to questions concerning the murder of ICE agent Jaime Zapata in February of this year. The murder is suspected to have been committed with Gunwalker firearms the U.S. government supplied to Mexican drug cartels. This is in addition to the murder of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry who allegedly was also killed by Gunwalker firearms, according to ATF whistleblowers.

The Issa/Grassley letter centers on the straw purchasers who were responsible for buying the weapons that killed Zapata and the fact that no thorough investigation was conducted by the DOJ-ATF on the perpetrators:

According to ATF documents, however, the agency had reason to believe as early as September 17, 2010, that Otilio's brother, and co-habitant Ranfari Osorio, and their next-door neighbor Kelvin Morrison were straw purchasers. Yet  the ATF apparently made no effort to contact Ranfari Osorio or Kelvin Morrison and inquire about how their weapons came to be trafficked to Mexico within 2 weeks of their purchase.

On Wednesday, October 26, Janet Napolitano of DHS was grilled by Congressmen Trey Gowdy, Jason Chaffets, and Darrell Issa concerning her knowledge of the circumstances surrounding the murder of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry. Napolitano denied having any knowledge about the murder nor the ensuing investigation except what has been reported in the news.

That same day, Congressman Joe Walsh wrote a stinging letter to Eric Holder demanding his resignation and that he issue an apology to the American people for his failures. Walsh went further to accuse the Administration of using Fast and Furious to attack the Constitutional rights of citizens.

On Thursday, October 27, Hillary Clinton was grilled by Congressman Connie Mack concerning her knowledge of the Fast and Furious scandal. Again, as with all Administration officials, Hillary claimed to know nothing about the scheme 'except for what had been reported after the fact.'

That same Thursday, this reporter helped break a story that rumors were swirling around D.C. that former Deputy Attorney-General David Ogden had secretly turned over to Issa's committee highly damaging documents that would shed new light on the Gunwalker scandal. Issa's committee would neither confirm nor deny that they possessed such documents.

Again on that Thursday, Jonathan Alter wrote a piece for Bloomberg claiming that the Obama Administration has done what no other has managed to do--stay free from scandal. This in spite of the all of the swirling controversies under investigation and continually-breaking news concerning Gunwalker.

On Friday, October 28, Congressman Elijah Cummings wrote a letter to Darrell Issa suggesting that former ATF Acting Director Kenneth Melson appear before the committee to help clear up some misunderstandings concerning Fast and Furious. The letter was conciliatory in tone despite Cummings' fiery remarks a week earlier during which he claimed the Issa investigation was a 'witch hunt.'

That same day Katie Pavlich at Townhall reported that Eric Holder would appear before the House Judiciary Committee on December 8 to answer questions about Gunwalker.

A 'pivotal week,' indeed. But the coming week may be even more pivotal. Already today news has broken on several different fronts simultaneously concerning Gunwalker. First, reporter David Codrea, one of the 2 who originally broke the Fast and Furious story has been lambasted by the Soros-funded Obama-shill Media Matters, referring to him as an imperialist and an enemy of the proletariat. Second, Homeland Security Examiner Kimberly Dvorak reports that Janet Napolitano may have conducted her own secret Mexican drug trafficking program, separate from Fast and Furious. Third, Mike Vanderboegh in a Sipsey Street Irregulars exclusive reports deepening scandal at the ATF revolving around a court case known as U.S. v. Clark, et al.. The case involves arbitrary ATF regulations concerning what constitutes 'a machine gun' and is part and parcel of the Administration's continuing war on the gun rights of U.S. citizens.

Thus, the coming week is shaping up to be anything but routine and may well hold some bombshell breaking news concerning Obama Administration scandals that makes last week's disclosures pale in comparison.
