More than 100 Congressmen, Senators and congressional
staffers flew to the U.N. climate summit in Copenhagen on the
taxpayers' dime. (Examiner.com)
Two weeks ago we reported on how 21 Congressmen and Senators and more than 80 other government employees flew to the failed Copenhagen climate summit. There has now been a price tag assigned to the trip - $1.1 million of taxpayer money.
Congress has never been one to do things frugally and the receipts from the trip show the trip to the U.N. Climate Change Conference was no different. CBS News obtained the expense report (below) and reading it many are questioning whether or not Congress understands that times are tough for many Americans.

For food and rooms for their two night stay the 15 Democrat and six Republican Congressman spent $4,406.00 each at the five star Marriott in Copenhagen. In all, more than $400,000 was spent on hotels, meeting rooms and hospitality suites.
Similarly, getting to the summit 4,000 miles away wasn’t cheap either. Three U.S. military jets were commandeered for the trip at a cost of $168,351. Remember we said there were a lot of staff and spouses on the tree and 59 of them flew commercial at a cost over $400,000.
Add all that together and the total cost for the congressional trip exceeds $1.1 million.
President Barack Obama of course also flew to the summit, exact details of those expenditures are not available due to security concerns. However, in addition to Air Force One, a spare, identical plane accompanies the president on all trips as do several cargo planes. Throw in the more than 60 administration staffers that made the trip and the cost to the U.S. taxpayers continued to skyrocket.
In the end the summit has been largely viewed as a failure. The “Copenhagen Accord” that resulted contains purely voluntary requirements of the nations that attended. Further, the U.N. said last week it was actually abandoning some of the more significant language it contained.

One more reason to vote these socialist democrat frauds out of office. Copenhagen was a dead horse from the get go. It was nothing more than a giant party under the guise of saving the planet. The senator from OK paid his own way. We should bill the pelosi brigade for all charges and then boot their non american commie rear ends all the way to cuba in the next elections for taking advantage of the US taxpayers.
