Materials
plastic drop cloth, rubber gloves, waterproof container, bottlebrush trees in various sizes, household bleach, liquid hot-water dye in tan, yellow, and dark green
Instructions
Protect your work surface and all surrounding areas with a plastic cloth. While wearing gloves, dip each tree into bleach to remove all color. Rinse in clear water. Let dry.
Mix dyes with water following manufacturer's directions. Dip the trees into the dyes to reach your desired color. Consider green your base color. To alter the shade add or yellow and vary the length of dipping time.
Your goal is to have trees in a variety of colors for your table. Set the trees upright to dry.
If desired, remove the original bases and stand the trees in various decorative bases, securing them with florist's foam or floral clay.
