Starbucks Off Menu Items
Here are all of the Starbucks "Off Menu" items available:
Biscotti Frapuccino:
Buy a biscotti and ask the barista to blend it up with any flavor of frapuccino. It blends into tiny cookie chunks that add a delicious little crunch to your frozen coffee.
Short Drink:
The sizes the “mainstream menu” gives you are “Tall,” “Grande” and “Venti,” but if you say you want the “short” size to any Starbucks drink you can receive a less expensive and smaller sized drink. Although this size is in their cash register, they don’t put it on the menu as a marketing strategy to make customers buy larger and more expensive drinks.
Short cappuccino:
A “Short” cappuccino is a more Italian style cappuccino. Basically this cappuccino leaves out the gallons of milk Starbucks puts in for the more traditional amount of dairy that the drink originated with.
Red Eye:
A shot of espresso in regular drip coffee.
Black Eye:
Two shots of espresso in regular drip coffee.
Green Eye:
Three shots of espresso in regular drip coffee. Not for anyone with a heart condition or road rage issues.
Poor Man’s Latte:
Order an Iced Americano with no water and half ice, then you can add free half and half at the little milk and condiments table. This is the same drink as a Breve Latte but costs much less. Just watch out for the classy police. This is definitely not the most chic thing to be caught doing by your mother-in-law or boss.
Poor Man’s Chai Latte:
Order a Chai Tea Misto with extra foam, two tea bags, and half cinnamon-half vanilla syrup. This is basically the same drink but almost half the price.
Cafe au Lait:
If your French and looking for something nostalgic of your homeland order the Misto without foam for a classic French coffee drink.
French pressed coffee:
You can choose any coffee they sell by the bag and have it served in a French press. For coffee snobs, this is one of the best way to appreciate all of the flavors of the coffee you chose.
Chocolate Cream Frapuccino:
Chocolate syrup and chocolate flavoring. Lots and Lots of chocolate! Do not underestimate the amount of chocolate in this frozen blended coffee. Only for the true chocolate lover

Baristas aren't technically allowed to put biscotti in the blenders - there is a very specific list of blender-appropriate ingredients. Don't be surprised if your barista doesn't do this for you.
The classy way to get a cheap iced latte is to just ask for your shots "over ice". Same thing, more class.
A cafe misto doesn't come with foam. If your barista thinks it does, tell them to check the drink recipe. This will probably net you a free drink.
Don't be surprised if your barista doesn't say "french press" when you order one. That term is copyrighted by a company who manufactures coffee grinders. The brand neutral term is "cofee press". Also, be ready to wait for this item - it takes about 10 minuts when everything is said and done. And yes, it's the best.
The chocolate cream frapuccino you're referring to is the Double Chocolaty Chip Frapuccino, and it's on the menu.

It's awful, and no caffeine!
I'm so glad you posted this. I was pretty taken aback by the biscotti and the chocolate cream. Pretty shoddy research.
....to Snobby barista up there... Starbucks coffee is NOT as great as people think! I am from Italy...and there is a reason why there are no Starbucks there!...oh and ley off the coffee...maybe you get a bit nicer and get off your high horse!
To the Italian, so.... this is why Starbucks is headed straight into Italy? Ohhh yeah. That's right.
Devon: I really loved this article. I'm definitely going to try out some of the tips you gave! The biscotti frap sounds great!! Thanks for the great article.
Glad you liked it KF. The biscotti frap is basically what dreams are made of. However according to Barista you have to find a rebellious starbucks employee to make it for you or some kind of underground starbucks blender black market. Its absolutely worth it though. Good Luck.
Seriously:
High horse? I was just trying to clarify a few Starbucks-specific factoids because I know a lot about the company and the way it operates on the consumer level. I wasn't trying to imply that Starbucks was the best coffee in the world, nor did I intend to sound rude.
Starbucks does not sell the best coffee in the world, but it is the easiest and most affordable way to get legitamate gourmet coffee, at least in the states. I can't speak for other countries.
If Starbucks isn't good, then there would be no reason for Italy to ban Starbucks from its marketplaces. The real reason Starbucks is not allowed in Italy is the fear that Italy would lose its coffee-house culture, which was born in Italy. The quality of the beverages is irrelevant.
PS: Devon, I really did like the article - I didn't mean to sound like a jerk or anything. It's about time someone gave some props to my two favorite things at the bux: french presses and short cappucinos!
Don't worry about it Barista. The high horse comment came WAAAY out of let field haha. You definitely didn't deserve it.
OMG!!! if u g0 to starbucks u have to get the captain crunch!!! it is s0 freakin g0od. it is strawberries and cream with toffee. best ever.
loved hearing about the other shorts. another one I like is the venti double shot, no syrup. You end up with 6 shots for under $2.50.
The short size is not a secret. Nothing listed in the article is a secret. Back in the day, there was no 'venti'.... the sizes were short, tall, and grande. When grande (16oz) wasn't big enough for the coffee addicts, Starbucks introduced 'venti' (20 in Italian for 20oz) and the 'short' cups were then used for 'kids' drinks. Customers can still order a short as a convenience, if that is what they prefer.
PS- Barista is sooooo right about what goes in the blender, too. No food!
i love the strawberries and cream frap with a shot of mocha... I will def.try the captain crunch!!! thanks
@ ex-barista: there obviously not "secrets" if were looking at an internet article about them, thats just a fun term, its just what the subtitle says "off menu" items. there not on the menu so most customers who arent in the know dont know they can be ordered
Tall/Grande (Venti)
Strawberries N' Cream Frappachino
1(2) Pump Hazelnut
1(2) Pump Toffee Nut
2(4) Scoops Java Chips
OMG I just lloovvee your aticles, I read the Rubios white sauce it was so funny
I keep forgetting to order the short drinks. Must do...
You guys should try the Jamba Secret menu the reason their not in the menu is because it's just an easy way to avoid lawsuits
Who doesnt love the mystique of going to In n Out, winking at the cashier, and ordering your burger Animal Style. You know the code word, the inside lingo; you are in on the underground burger black market. Even though you couldve just ordered extra pickles and grilled onions, its so much more fun to use the secret menu. Now you can do the same thing at Jamba Juice and actually order something that no one else can order without the cool code words for the Jamba Juice secret menu.
Jamba juice has over thirty smoothies that never made it to the menu or have been discontinued for various reasons. Most of the time these secret smoothies are just too high in calories and generally bad for you to be sold at a health food restaurant. Employees have the recipes to all of these but are not allowed to answer questions about them or make them unless you specific
I too work at starbucks. I dreamed of this drink one time and I decided to make it at work.
Chocolate Strawberries:
Strawberries and Creme Frap with 2 Pumps mocha. Really good, and tastes just like the same thing.
The Muffin is a drink shown to me, but no one ever posts it.
2 Berry Blossom White tea Bags, steamed soy and vanilla(3) for a tall. let the bags sit in for 4 mins and take them out. tastes just like a muffin.
Brownie Frap
Buy a brownie and blend it with a double chocolate chip frap. The taste is very rich!
Another "secret menu" drink you can order is a Captain Crunch frappuccino. Just ask for a strawberries and cream frappuccino with toffee nut. It tastes really good. Extrememly sweet, but good.
You have to add the chocolate chips to it as well! not just toffee nut. :)
Oops, sorry. I didn't see that that was already posted. My bad! :)
You can order a zebra latte or frappuccino which is deeelissshhhh. It's just 1/2 white mocha and 1/2 regular mocha :)
It's not as good as an iced latte. But if you get it as a hot latte with whip, it's sooooo tasty.
Also, you can get a dirty chai, which is a chai latte with espresso in it. I usually get one shot in a grande chai b/c otherwise the espresso overpowers the flavor of the chai tea. Tasty!
Starbucks should make dandelion coffee.
I don't know if this was mentioned, but Marble Mocha Macchiato is my favorite and that (from what I can remember) is not on the menu anymore. It's made like a caramel macchiato (which is vanilla on the bottom, steamed milk, espresso shots on top and caramel drizzle) but instead it's white mocha on the bottom, steamed milk, espresso shots on top and mocha drizzle on top. Delicious!
Those are some really great drinks. Though there this website deetfin.com with some other really great secret Starbucks drinks.
Btw, anyone remember Diedrichs Coffee in Southern California. They had some great drinks. like the Mayan Mochas and all that jazz.
Good stuff excepting the fact that espresso has less caffine in it than regular coffee (it's merely very strongly flavored because its ground so finely) so heart issues and road rage would be neither affected or intensified.
thats gross
apparently this isnt the full menu. try the captain crunch. its amazing.
interesting... minus the "if your french" error. c'mon now! YOU'RE!!!!
starbucks is my life! hate how the prices went up ! ARG!
Hm, are you sure all these menus are accurate? The choices sound wonderful, but i don't want to sound like an idiot when i'm ordering them (:
theres also zebra mocha/hot chocolate.
its half vanilla flavoring half dark chocolate. personally my favorite drink.
i went to starbucks and ordered the green eye and the guy said they call it a purple eye.
This is true
its my second time around to taste the exotic blend of starbucks coffee and im really craving to buy again.i really love the taste.
Zebra mocha is hella good... also a white mocha with a splash of rasberry... that tastes like candy
You guys shoud try an under toe.. its really small but packs a punch. you can add multiple shots but the most ive ever added was four.. its really delicious and you have to drink it really fast
The Misto actually doesn't come with foam and technically Starbucks employees aren't allowed to call some of these drinks by these names, like a red eye or as some people commented about the zebra mocha. They're supposed to say a coffee with an add shot and a half mocha half white mocha.
Don't order an Americano without water, you'll look like an idiot.
None of these are secrets, and one you didn't list was that they can make italian sodas for you :D
yes, starbucks does offer a berry crunch frappucino on their secret menu that is made to taste like captain crunch (i saw this on an above comment). there is also a banana's foster frappucino. also, the "short" size is not much of a secret. it is also called "kiddie" size.

"if your french"..........should be "if you're* french". Grammar, people, come on! Otherwise, quite the excellent article!
If you are trying to correct someone's grammar, then you should be sure you are correct as well. There is no such thing as "proper grammar" on the internet these days so fishing for it is frivolous. If you were the genius that you portray yourself as, then you would realize that your "........" rant should only include three dots...as far as proper grammar is concerned. Have an amazing day!
*French
What about strawberries iced lemonade? My friend who's a barista ordered it and it's like the strawberry mix from either the smoothies or the frappachino mixed with lemonade and ice and blended. So good!
I lvoe starbucks coffee so much. My favorite is their caramel frapuccino.
The white chocolate mocha/ mocha is called a tuxedo mocha(:
Hi, I'm a barista. Let me step onto my soap box for a second...
Biscotti Frapuccino? I would not make this for you. Not because it's not allowed, but because it's a stupid idea.
The terms "Red Eye," "Black Eye" and "Green Eye" (especially green, dude what the hell?) are not acceptable. Just order a coffee with [insert number here] add shot(s) of espresso. Don't memorize some stupid color chart.
Poor Man’s Latte? Oh how nice of you to steal from my employer, you broke fool. This is not new or a secret. It's just cheap and disgusting.
Poor Man’s Chai Latte? The fact that you say this is "basically the same drink" is laughable. Obviously you have no taste buds.
"Cafe au Lait"... say that to me if you want to get punched in the teeth.
Oh and to all the commenting customers ordering Zebras and Tuxedos and Michael Jackson Mochas? I don't make those. I make Mochas with added White Mocha. I will not make the drink correctly unless its ordered correctly.
I know many people will ridicule me for not adhering to these popular "secret menu items," but my problem is with uniformity. If you don't know what you want and all you have to give me is some catchy name like "Captain Crunch Frappuccino," I can't make it.
There is NO Starbucks standard recipe for that drink!
I'm not dumb. I like Strawberries and Cream with Toffee Nut as much as everybody else, but some idiots like to use Hazlenut, some idiots like to use Java Chips, some idiots like to blend them with Breve... you see my point?
My main point is this: If it's some fancy drink with a catchy name that's not on the menu, you'd better learn how it's made and order it accordingly.
Okay, I feel better now. *steps off*
You got some serious anger issues... something tells me you REALLY should not be working at Starbucks... try the loony bin instead. Christ.
@That French person who said sometjing about a barista getting off her high-horse... you should really be telling that to this person instead.
