Scottsdale Arizona 'Hallelujah Chorus' Flash Mob, grows like wildfire

On December 22, 2010, Scottsdale, Arizona was home to one of the most inspiring flash mob performances around the country.  A Phoenix choir director was inspired by a youtube.com video of Hallelujah and decided to organize her 100  member choir to do a similar flash mob scene at  the Scottsdale Fashion Square.   The performance grew like wildfire to include at least 1,000 participants. with some estimates as high as 5,000 participants.

Governor Brewer commented on the Flash Mob performance on her facebook. SFS will be counting their blessings, with the good will and name recognition this event caused.

The event was truly FLASH MOB as many joined in that were not a part of the organized portion of the event.  The response was so overwhelmingly positive that a second performance broke out. In a season where many are unemployed, low on money and malls are begging for business, it seems that publicity like this cannot be bought.  The free expression of music and joy is a benefit to the shoppers that are out in droves to buy presents because of  Christmas and wanting to spread the gifts of love to their family and friends.

The reason people are shopping, is the same reason this is so welcome an expression, that reason is one word - Christmas.  Handel's Messiah was the perfect choice, a beautiful cultural music piece that is a classic with hundreds of versions played worldwide for centuries. If this continues it will be one more bit of awesomeness that shopping live in a mall provides, that you cannot get online.

Enjoy the videos below. The first is the one most viewed and the second is the second performance, which was started impromptu, by a flash mob participant about five minutes after the first performance.
