Report: Obama family leases a $20 million dollar farm for summer vacation
President Obama and his family have rented a farm in Martha's Vineyard for their summer vacation next month. They will start their vacation the last week of August, according to reports.
According to the Vineyard Gazette, the Obamas have rented the Blue Heron Farm. The farm is located on 28.5-acres. No one is quite sure how much the rental is costing the Obamas, but similar properties rent for $35,000 to $50,000 a week.
It has been reported that the Obama family will have access to a private portion of Squibnocket Beach.
The choice of a perfect rental property on Martha's vineyard has taken many months. Over 20 properties had been examined by Obama's aides and the secret service.
President Obama has not officially confirmed his vacation plans.
President Obama will no doubt be criticized for taking such an expensive vacation. People will argue that he doesn't deserve a big vacation when the country is in such bad a bad economic state. Others will say that Obama has been working hard since the day he took office.

I agree1 He is not paying the full rental price. Everyone is complaining but its hard being a President. You wrong when you do right and right when you do wrong. He is trying to get us out of the mess Bush out us in 8 years ago. I didnot vote for Brush so I can say he did this to us. We need to give Obama a chance. I do not understand how the very same economists that tell us to tighten our belts, eat lean, watch our spending, not throw our money away, and watch our investments, like not invest in a company perhaps that is going bankrupt. However, the government is doing the absolute opposite. I cancelled a trip to disney to try and do the right thing. Now the president has more air time on Airforce One than any other president has before him. He is off to NYC shows, celebrity parties, coutside basketball games, baseball games, mingling with the ball players, having celebrities and athletes as his guests at the white house, and you know these parties ain't free. Now the big vacation, with all the planning, the rental, the eating out, the provisions, the security...... Don't be fooled by what you hear, this will cost millions. How he has the brass ones to shove this in our faces. Why not just go to Camp David? This guy is more like a pimp than a president. No racial meaning intended.

In January when Obama took office, my wife lost her job. I am in the construction industry and am in dire straights of loosing my job because of President Obama's foolish policies and his desire to destroy this country. As my wife and I see our hopes and dreams for a future flushed down the toilet, in Washington's crazed march to socialism, I ask the American people, when is enough, enough? We now have a dictator in the guise of a President with willing accomplices in the U.S. Congress and the media hell bent on subjecting all of us to their will. America Wake Up!!

I am seeing red over this vacation. How can this man even pretend to understand what the 'average American' is going through? How long will we sit and watch as he squanders our money on 'date nights' and vacations while we stuggle to put food on the table? Massachusetts has been cold and rainy so maybe the pattern will continue and they will have lovely (lousy) vacation. And I guess he won't have to worry about picketing by the Mass Police Unions now that he's backed off his comment about the their behavior in the Gates incident or was it the Gates set up?

Where were all of you guys complaining when Bush was out vacationing???? The Obamas could afford to take a vacation of this magnitude on their own, so that is not a big issue. Everyone is pointing their finger at the President. Start pointing the finger at yourselves. The President, regardless of who is in the position, should be a leader. But, without anything to lead, it just becomes a person in position. Therefore, all of you should get up and do something to better the state you are in, the state your community is in, and keep going until you can actually say you have contributed to help improve the state your country is in. With all Americans moving in the right direction, the President can lead, the Americans can support, and the country can strive. No matter if it is President Obama, Bush, or whoever, Americans will continue to blame others instead and wait.

At least Tempting when Bush (GW) went on vacation he went to his own property - the ranch. We as taxpayers did not have to pay for a load of secret service, white house staff and oh yes a Dog walker or Bo nanny.

Obama invites Gates to the White House for a beer. Get real, he has a place at the Vineyard. Why not do it when you are there and save the taxpayers some money? This President is supposed to be in touch with his middle class roots, yeah, like Michelle Obama is in touch with her south side of Chicago roots. At least Laura Bush fought for literacy, what is Michelle doing except taking every photo opt advantage and using the White House staff to cater to her? And this is middle america....
The Kennedy's can provide an expensive dog, not a shelter dog as the President was so keen to have, bull, he and his family should have been invited to spend summer vacation at the Kennedy compound, at least it would have shown some fiscal restraint and saved money but of course I forgot, there is not a single piece of evidence showing the Obamas with fiscal restraint except of course that they don't go to church on Sunday and put anything in the collection box.
Is it a coincidence that Gates and Garrett both vacation in the Vineyard? Is the President really wanting to throw more gasoline on the whole racial profiling issue? Does the President forget that his mother was a successful white woman? And the cost to the taxpayers sends a message to wall st and the auto industry, give out your bonuses to the ones that caused our economy to suffer because I am taking advantage of those who elected me.
Maybe this can be a “teachable” moment. Just as everybody knows from about age 18 it’s not good to lip off to a cop now maybe Obama will find out it’s not good to vacation at a $20M property when the economy is in the tank. Of course, when you all willing to shell out $$$ trillions of taxpayers’ money what’s a $30K or $50K vacation? Not including all the additional costs. It’s probably more like a $2M vacation.
