'Please Stay LeBron' campaign features local Cleveland celebrities begging James to stay a Cavalier

'Please Stay LeBron' campaign features local Cleveland celebrities begging James to stay a Cavalier

May 16, 2010 -- A 'Please Stay LeBron' campaign has started. A video has hit the net to the music of 'We are the World' and it features famous Clevelanders who have come together begging LeBron James to stay in a Cleveland Cavaliers uniform.

The video is being called "We Love Lebron," "We Are LeBron," and "Please Stay LeBron" and features local Cleveland celebrities dedicated to keeping LeBron James in the city that loves him, Cleveland, Ohio.

The music video is a spoof of the 'We Are The World' video and it features some of Cleveland's most famous. Local celebrities included in the video are; Ohio Governor Ted Strickland, The Cuyahoga County Commissioner, News Anchor Bill Martin, along with local music, sports, and television stars who all lend their voices and faces to the 'Please Stay Lebron' video.

With hilarious lyrics such as "What will we do with that big sign if you move away," "We'll rename our streets LeBron if that what it takes," and "New York's overcrowded, Those people are unbearable...and don't forget The Knicks and Nets are terrible!"

However comical this video is there theme of the video is very real. Cleveland wants LeBron to stay a Cavalier. In a city that has been so devastated by sports tragedies and mishaps LeBron is our bright spot. LeBron, or 'The Chosen One' as he is called was supposed to be the savior of Cleveland sports, which many believe are truly cursed. But with the Cleveland Cavaliers recently getting knocked out of the post season by the Boston Celtics LeBron's future is unsure. James officially becomes a free agent on July 1, 2010.

If LeBron James leaves the Cleveland Cavaliers not only the city of Cleveland will be devastated but so will the state of Ohio. LeBron James, the native Ohioan was born and raised just minutes outside of Cleveland in Akron, Ohio. LeBron the proclaimed 'King of Akron' also recently build a multi million dollar home in the area. Many fans want to believe more than anything that LeBron James will be loyal and stay in the city that has been so good to him. Others want to believe he'll end up in another uniform.

Deemed the greatest basketball player in the world LeBron James popularity among Ohioans is obvious. So much so that local celebrities are taking time from their busy schedules to record the 'Please Stay LeBron' video.

I sent an email to the mayors & the Govenor telling them to offer LeBron tax abatements like they do other businesses to keep them.
