Fueling the belief that the pro-homosexual Lavender Mafia is alive and well within the hierarchy of the Catholic Church in America, the USCCB (United States Conference of Catholic Bishops) has been conspicuously silent on condemning the Obama Administration and the overwhelmingly Democrat support in Congresss for the repeal of the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" regulation that prohibited openly homosexual individuals from serving in the Armed Forces.
One of the few, if not only, Catholic prelate to speak out against the repeal has been the leader of the Archdiocese of the Military Services, Archbishop Timothy Broglio.
It's been previously reported that the archbishop explained that while individuals may have a legal right to declare their sexual preferences, they have no comparable “right” to serve in the military at the same time.

Rather, he said, the military reserves to itself the right to deny individuals that privilege -- just as soldiers may forfeit the privilege of military service in many other ways, through their speech and behavior.
“While I presume that Judge Phillips [who ruled DADT to be unconstitutional] has a better preparation in Constitutional law than I do,” it seems to me that there is no blanket 'right' in the Constitution to serve in the Armed Forces.”
So That's What It Looks Like When A Cardinal Is Wrong...
The same individual who refuses to withhold Holy Communion from the notoriously pro-homosexual and pro-abortion lawmaker Nancy Pelosi, the Archbishop of Washington, DC, Donald Cardinal Wuerl, recently stated that “there isn’t a specific Catholic Church position” on the issue of homosexuals serving in the military.
However, in 1992, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (then headed by Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger, the current Pope Benedict XVI) taught;
“there are areas in which it is not unjust discrimination to take sexual orientation into account, for example, in the placement of children for adoption or foster care, in employment of teachers or athletic coaches, and in military recruitment.”

Slideshow: Not a single word from the President of the USCCB, Abp. Timothy Dolan of NY.
Mr. Whiteman, you are obviously in great denial. The USCCB is in the same place as they always are--in with the Modernists who are intent on destoying the true Catholic faith. Along with Timothy Dolan who, on camera, gave a thumbs up during a presentation of gay "catholics". Wake up or sleep with the enemy.
It's no shock at all that the silence from the USCCB is deafening . Let's look at the group's Prez, Abp. Dolan: 1. He is a supporter/encourager of parishes like NYC's St. Francis Xavier where anything goes and the rainbow flies high. 2. In 2005, upon the release of a Vatican document stating that gays must be barred from the priesthood, Dolan went on CNN and said "it's not a no-gays policy". 3. Dolan has publicly and unashamedly said that he does not and will not withhold Holy Communion from pro-abort/pro-gay "rights" politicians. Just but three examples.
And for icing on the cake, Dolan went on Fox news last month and said that you can call God "him, her or whatever you want" and upon his election as the Prez of the disgraceful USCCB he so famously said "it's not like - thanks be to God - we're in crisis."
Such a moral voice from such a moral leader. Yeah right.
One more comment. The examples above show Dolan's dissent from Jesus/the Holy Trinity, his dissent from the Pope, and his dissent from Canon 915. In light of all this, why would we ever expect him to dissent from modern, politically-correct "values"? He's made it clear which side he's on.
The USCCB is little more than an arm of the American Democrat Party. If most bishops are not active homosexuals they have been co-opted by them. Now they have added treason to their repertoire by supporting the START treaty and the DREAM act, long with being silent on ending DADT (Itself a flawed, slippery slope policy.) There were all for the death dealing Obamacare, as long as it contained a flimsy, transparently phony prohibition on taxpayer funding abortions. They have been for socialized medicine since 1991. They have promoted every failed and destructive democrat party agenda like the job killing minimum wage laws. They have been known to favor confiscating firearms from citizens. I am a faithful to the pope and magisterium Catholic who will never give a dime to Amchurch until the USCCB and most of these pervert bishops are history. I am quitting the K of C over the lack of discipline as well.
You people are so backwards. Aren't compassion and caring for those who cannot afford to take care of themselves basic tennets of Christianity? Oh oops, I forgot- you're Catholics!
Oh, and why are you assuming that homosexuals cannot "take care of themselves"? Keep talking... you just make yourself look even sillier than you already have.
Kevin Whiteman should be commended for defending the true Faith intrepidly (something to be expected from a Catholic Marine), and the American bishops should be criticized for refusing to excommunicate politicians supporting the legalized murder of unborn children, this refusal being one of the worst scandals in the Church’s history. Those points having been made, I believe that the bishops’ nearly total silence on the rescission of “don’t ask, don’t tell” has to be evaluated against the background of signals coming from the Magisterium as represented by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF). Although the 1992 document cited by Mr. Whiteman mentions military recruitment, there is no mention of military issues in two subsequent CDF documents, both of which are of great importance: the 2002 document on Catholics in politics, and the 2003 document on opposing legal recognition of same-sex unions. “Don’t ask, don’t tell” should have been retained to counter social acceptance of the sin of sodomy. Still, the bishops may have made the tactical decision, in the light of the above Vatican signals, *CCC* 2358, and the apparent non-disruption of the armed forces in nations such as Australia, Britain, and Canada, to shift combat to a more favorable battleground: upholding the sacrament of Matrimony by fighting legal recognition of same-gender unions. Even the Marines are justified in leaving one battlefield for another while aiming at the same strategic objective.

In denial of what, Lisa? That the USCCB is a worthless organization that needs to be done away with?
In denial that the USCCB is made up of Modernists Novus Ordo priests.
Oh, Lisa... I wouldn't say that I'm in denial of that. If anything, I firmly believe it.

I left the K of C years ago. And I'm a 4th Degree Knight.

So who's the real bigot here, Wow?

Obama is head of the Church in America. He knows it. He should be presented with a mitre and crozier.
