Are you craving a cat, desperate for a dog, itching for an iguana or begging for a bunny? Time magazine wants to help you find your perfect pet.
The September 6th edition of Time will include a special feature entitled “A Pet Parent’s Guide to Adoption”. The story highlights the amazing work of Petfinder.com, a free on-line resource for anyone interested in adopting an animal or learning how to care for one.
The Petfinder site is easy to use and allows you to be very specific about the type of animal you want to adopt. It will let you see photos and descriptions of adoptable pets in your area that meet your particular needs. For example:
Linda, a Citrus Heights resident, wants a young male pit bull that will be medium-sized when fully grown. She needs him to be house-trained and to be good with cats and small children. On Petfinder Linda can search for adoptable dogs in her area that fit that specific profile.
Roberto lives in Natomas and wants a very large, older female cat; he doesn’t really care what breed she is. He is willing to adopt a cat with special needs, as long as she can get along with his other cat. Petfinder can help Roberto find her with just a few clicks of a mouse.
Over 50 animal rescue facilities and organizations from the Greater Sacramento area post adoptables on Petfinder. In addition to searching for a very specific type of pet, you can also view all of the pets currently available at a particular shelter.
Check out these Petfinder links to see just a few of the Sacramento area rescue groups; once on each site click on “Our adoptable pet list” to see who might be looking for you.
