Hidden fees are possibly one of the most annoying things when planning expenses for a business trip. Recently a coalition started a campaign against these fees, trying to get the U.S. Transportation Department to mandate that airlines disclose all fees up front.
The American Society of Travel Agents, the Business Travel Coalition and the Consumer Travel Alliance have started a new a website, MadAsHellAboutHiddenFees.com with plans to file petitions to the Dept. of Transpiration on September 23rd, what they call “Mad as Hell day”
To their credit the DOT has already been considering adding new rules about airline fee disclosures, this coalition is hoping to help push thru the new rules and reinforce the need for this change.
While the fees being gone would be great, the coalition focuses on making the fees more transparent not getting rid of the fees themselves.
“Hidden fees are a violation of a traveler’s most basic right: to know how much they will have to pay for their trip,” said Charlie Leocha, President of the Consumer Travel Alliance. “When two out of every three air travelers say they have been surprised by hidden fees at the airport, you know the current system is broken and needs to be fixed. Airlines should have to share their fees with every traveler, through every ticketing channel, to every point of sale.”

It's about time someone stands up and tries to put an end to the hidden fees. It is ludicrous all the "extras" travelers get charged for.
funny url! The extra's sure add up.
That's great! I don't know how it's okay to have hidden fees and I'm glad somebody decided that they're mad as heck and not gonna take it anymore! ( :
