Russell Crowe is a chocoholic. Or at least a cupcake freak. He stopped into Georgetown Cupcake on Thursday (waiting his turn like other customers) and picked himself out an assortment of a dozen cupcakes, including “chocolate squared,” chocolate with vanilla icing and red velvet, among others. A little later, an assistant returned with a specific list from him for more.

Crowe and his co-stars of “State of Play” filmed Saturday and Sunday at the Rosslyn Metro station, as well as at the parking garage of the still-under-construction Turnberry Towers condo development a block away.

In other VIP news:

» ABC’s John Hendren tells us that Chief Justice John Roberts Jr. watched “Horton Hears a Who” in the theater of the White House residence Friday. He was there with his wife and two kids (and a dozen other guests), all of whom were greeted by first lady Laura Bush.

» The Atlanta Braves checked into the Ritz Carlton Pentagon City on Saturday in advance of their Opening Day matchup with the Nationals. Meanwhile, we hear many Nats players decided to stay at the Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill this weekend (perhaps they were concerned about the traffic, too). A Nationals spokeswoman said she couldn’t discuss where the team stays.
