See the pictures in the new slideshow here.
- UPDATE: Paul McCartney's appearance at Radio City Music Hall last night was a complete surprise to Ringo Starr. A report on the Rock Arts show blog says they overheard Paul tell someone Ringo didn't know he was there, though Paul may have been just kidding. Ringo's press representative confirmed on our inquiry that he didn't know. Before going onstage, the blog says, Paul sat in the last row at Radio City for part of the show, taking pictures and videos on his Blackberry. The blog has a picture of Paul in his limo.
- Bruce Bosso passed on this story from a friend: "The sister of one of his friends was sitting in the very last row of the orchestra seats at Radio City last night. These are the seats way in the back by the doors to the lobby. There were six empty seats next to her. Right before the show started, a big burly guy came and looked at the seats. Right as the show started, Paul came in and sat down in the seat next to the woman, Nancy sat next to Paul, Nancy's niece sat next to Nancy, and the other three seats were taken up by security! My friend's friend said she was too shocked to even acknowledge him, but that a woman in the row in front of him turned around and said 'Paul!' and Paul took his hand and clasped her shoulder and leaned in and said "Honey, that's not a good idea" and the woman stopped. One of the comments that my friend's friend heard was Paul say to Nancy about Wally Palmar's guitar 'That's a Rickenbacker.' And did anybody mention that Spike Lee was in the last row of the orchestra pit? Ringo looked at him and pointed at him when he sang "They're gonna put me in the movies" during 'Act Naturally.'"
- Steve Frank was out in front of the Hard Rock Cafe. "When Ringo got there, he threw a bunch of peace and love bracelets at the waiting throng, had a laugh and then walked back across the street towards the bus and the cafe, right past me. " He also said, "They also passed out cookies afterwards. I got a heart-shaped cookie with red frosting. I hung around for awhile just in case. I came face to face with Olivia Harrison downstairs at the cafe. I walked by her right in front of an acoustic guitar George used at the Concert of Bangla Desh in 1971. Very cool."
- At the bottom of the page is a slideshow of more pics (in addition to the one above) by Genevieve Rafter Keddy of some very nice shots from last night's show.

Great story, great pictures. Wish I were there....especially in the last row!!
They both look and sound fab. Would have screamed my head off if I was there!
At some point in the show Ringo mentioned he was "wearing all my birthday presents" which I think meant the gold necklaces and the belt buckle which said "R (star) B" on it (Richie and Barb?) You can see some of that in Gen's photo at the top of the page.
There'd better be a DVD of this, and soon.
I saw Ringo in concert in Lancaster Pa 1 day before this. It was the best concert I seen. Damn miss McCartney though, but I can imagine what it would be like in NY. He has got a great show.
Great coverage Steve, all the pictures, videos and stories are amazing, you are the leader in Internet Beatles news coverage.
All this Ringo/Paul stuff is a dream for a Beatle's fan, hope it get's included on Ringo's live disc in the future.
And to think way back when Paul decked Ringo when Ringo went to ask Paul to push back release of McCartney. LOL!!!
Barb P. Unless you were there, it's not right to say that Paul decked Ringo in 1970. There was nothing physical in the encounter; a shouting match, mostly on Paul's part - and a slammed door. Exit through St. John's Wood, a dejected Ringo. Nor is there cause to laugh out loudly. Pardon me if I sound abrupt.
Got something to say?
