Hickory, NC — As Honorary Chairman of the Rotarian Idol Education Scholarship competition for the second consecutive year, International recording artist and former Beach Boys band member Adrian Baker performed four songs to a crowd of 1,100 at Lenoir Rhyne University's P.E. Monroe Auditorium before receiving the "Key to the City" by Hickory City Mayor Rudy Wright on March 18th.
"Adrian's contributions to supporting education in Hickory over the past 10 years is the reason for receiving this honor," said Wright. "The "Key to the City" is bestowed upon distinguished persons and honored guests of the City of Hickory."
All money raised from the event will benefit education throughout Catawba County, NC. Adrian Baker is a proponent of education. He has contributed to schools in Hickory for over the past 10 years with donations of his CDs and autographed pictures to elementary and high schools to auction-off at fundraisers.
