Several art classes and workshops are being offered throughout the month of September at Crossings at Carnegie, located at 320 East Ave in Zumbrota, MN.
Landscape Painting - Sept. 18 and 19
Open to oil and pastel painters of any level, this workshop will include two days of demonstration, lecture, and instruction about how to paint in the landscape 'en plein air'. Each day will include a demo, group discussion about painting technique, materials, and philosophy, and easel time for students along with easel critique.
The two day workshop will be taught by Marc Hanson, a plein air landscape painter who classes throughout Minnesota and the nation. The class runs Saturday and Sunday, September 18th and 19th, from 9am to 4pm.
Screenwriting Workshop for Teens - Sept. 25
This workshop is for teens interested in learning about the screenwriting process, open to students of all writing ability. Participants will practice how to build active characters, examine three-act structure, break down scene design, and experiment with different genres. Instructor Melissa Brandt will illustrate these components through video clips and writing exercises, including writing a short screenplay.
Other September Events
Crossings will also offer classes in Argentinean tango dancing, pottery, jewelry-making, and writing throughout September. This month's concert series includes The Fabulous Armadillos and Collective Unconscious (an Eagles tribute concert) on September 10th, acclaimed Minneapolis-based folk singer Ellis on September 18th, and Diane Jarvi and Dan Newton on September 24th. Throughout the month, the gallery at Crossings is hosting an exhibit of painting and art prints by Lauri Rockne and Sara Lubinski, including a special artists' reception on Saturday, September 11th from 2-4pm.
