Get in shape while being chased by the walking dead! Zombies will be running loose in the streets of Nashville on Sept. 29 as The Zombie Run 5K infests Music City on Sun., Sept. 29 at 7:30 a.m., as part of a 16-city nationwide 2013 tour. Called “a cool event” by USA Today, the Zombie Run has drawn some comparison to “the famous ‘War of the Worlds’ radio broadcast” by the New York Times because it is scripted and reported on like it is a real, blood-curdling event.
Featured on Anderson Cooper 360, Nashville's Zombie Run will encompass a 3.1 mile racecourse and a running narrative designed like a Hollywood Apocalypse movie-set, where participants either run through the course as Zombies, or as prey. Runners must dash to safety while being chased by zombies.
The event has captured the interest of Hollywood reality shows and superstars. At the Atlanta Zombie Run, actors from AMC’s smash zombie super-series, “The Walking Dead” showed up. The Zombie Run benefits Active Heroes (www.activeheroes.org), a volunteer-led charity helping veterans, active duty military and their families.
No word on whether or not the zombie makeup is good for your skin, but prey can take care of their skin during any runs with a good sunscreen.
The Nashville Zombie Run takes place on Sept. 29 at 7:30am at Shelby Bottoms Park. For The Zombie Run event tickets and information updates, visit www.thezombierun.com.
