Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4 to drop discs in a matter of years (Photos)

The Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4 are only a matter of months away from being totally unveiled, but it looks like the systems could be dropping physical copies within two to three years from now.

According to a report from Silobreaker on Saturday, Clive Moody, Senior Executive Producer at Codemasters, talked about the excitement surrounding the Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4, and then discussed how long the systems use discs to store games.

"I think we're all waiting to see what the major manufacturers are coming out with.

"It sounds super-exciting, I have to say -- if you believe some of the hype going on at the moment; but we'll wait and see what comes out.

"I think the disk will have it's place for a few years yet.

"It's important for retail, obviously, and a lot of countries, you know, the Internet infrastructure just isn't there enough yet -- especially for really, really large downloads," Moody said.

Moody then said the Wii U is brilliant and that there is going to be more cross-over in gaming soon enough.

"It works brilliantly, having played it.

"I think it is the future. I mean, you've got to look at what's happening in the world of mobile, you've got iPads, Surface just came out from Microsoft.

"I think you're going to see a lot more of that cross-over," Moody said.
