The next-generation of consoles are quickly approaching with many believing new systems could be hitting retailers this year, and one of the biggest PC developers is positioning itself for next-generation development that could be debuting on consoles.

According to various job postings discovered by Examiner.com today, Blizzard Entertainment is current hiring for eleven different next-generation MMO positions.

Some of the positions include Design Department Manager, Environment Artist, Technical Lead, Franchise Development Producer, Game Producer / Senior Game Producer and Graphic Designer/Graphic Artist, among others.

A major topic in the gaming industry has been whether or not MMOs will start to be ported to next-generation systems.

Some MMO developers have expressed interest in porting them to new consoles if they can technologically support the monster titles.

A requirement that Blizzard is looking for in their Design Department Manager position would have experience with "shipping AAA PC, or console titles."

The MMO dev is looking for people to "join the next generation MMO team" at Blizzard, but what exactly they are working on has not been revealed.

There are a number of the other open next-gen MMO positions that talk about needing people who have worked on console games before, which is a small, yet interesting note, considering the fact that Blizzard has historically worked on PC games only.

Do you think this is a sign that Blizzard is potentially looking at next-generation consoles for their games?
