The show ended with an “Ascension Ceremony” where both the World Heavyweight Championship and the WWE Championship would be ceremoniously raised to the air before the Title Unification bout this Sunday night in a Tables, Ladders & Chairs Match at the aptly named TLC pay per view. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon presided over the ceremony that included World Heavyweight Champion John Cena and WWE Champion Randy Orton. In the ring for the invited ceremony included any former World Champion in the building. That group included Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, Booker T, Mick Foley, CM Punk, The Big Show, Kane, Daniel Bryan, Rey Mysterio, Mark Henry, Christian, Alberto Del Rio, The Miz, Jack Swagger, Dolph Ziggler and The Great Khali, with John “Bradshaw” Layfield ringside on commentary.

Triple H tried to hold court but the Seattle crowd turned on the segment immediately and chanted loudly and proudly for Washington native Daniel Bryan. Orton took the mic and brought up Cena’s past “Ruthless Aggression” and what he did to some of the legends in the ring. Cena then responded by acknowledging Bryan’s popularity and then brought Orton’s past attitude problems and gave props to men like Punk and Ziggler. He cut an amazingly impassioned promo and then the two Champions shook hands as the belts were ceremoniously raised in the air.

The two champions then brawled quickly before being broken up by their contemporaries. In the brawl, Orton shoved Punk so Punk attacked him. Triple H intervened so Punk took him down. Michaels then dropped Punk with Sweet Chin Music. Bryan then responded with a knee to Michaels. Orton looked to RKO Bryan but got shoved into Stephanie McMahon. Triple H then dropped Orton with a Pedigree, and then HHH, Kane and Cena checked on Stephanie as the show closed.

The ending completely saved the entire show and pumped some new lifeblood into the upcoming TLC pay per view.
