There are all kinds of nut jobs out there and many have twisted and sadistic fantasies about hurting others. But, perhaps there is no more troubling than those who aim to subject children to those sick objectives.
That unfortunate reality surfaced again when a Denver-area woman by the name of Melinda Lucero was shocked to find her young cousin was almost the victim of one of those evil pranks.
According to Lucero’s Facebook page, the young trick-or-treater was enjoying the evening while filling their bag of candy in a Lakewood neighborhood, near the crossroads of Alameda and Garrison.
After coming home to dig through the treasure trove of candy they had collected, the youngster happened across what appeared to be a factory-sealed, bite-size Snickers candy bar.
Luckily for the child, the razor blade hidden inside the candy was discovered before it caused any injury.
Lucero stated that she had already contacted the police, but finding the culprit among the many who were likely handing out the exact same candy may be difficult.
The best thing parents can do, if they chose to let their kids accept candy from total strangers, is check every piece of candy that could possibly contain hidden items. But even that doesn’t insure total safety.
Unfortunately, this is one of many ways sickos can tamper with perishables without people realizing it, before it’s too late.
