A Los Angeles woman has set the world record for the World’s Largest Hips. The World Record Academy announced the record setting achievement on Tuesday, Jan. 22.
Mikel Ruffinelli, 30 weighs 420 pounds and has an eight foot circumference. Ruffinelli is only five foot four inches and has a “proportionally small 40 inch waist.
The mother of four lives in Los Angeles, CA and according to the Daily Mail, she’s content with the shape of her body. “I see no reason to diet because I don’t have health problems”, Ruffinelli said.
“Men don’t fancy skinny girls, they like an hourglass figure.” Mikel Ruffinelli has been married to her husband, Reggie Brooks for 10 years.
Brooks spoke with Barcroft TV about his wife. “She has a sweet disposition about her that really attracted me to her.”
“I like to tell people all the time, ‘I have a license to work with heavy equipment.”
The World Record Academy measured Ruffinelli’s hips and they came in at 100 inches wide. There are many factors with her hip size that makes everyday tasks much more difficult.
Ruffinelli, a plus sized model has to drive a truck and because of the size of her frame has to use a reinforced chair at home. The Closer reported that she also “struggles with fitting through door entrances and sleeps in a seven foot wide bed.”
Mikel Ruffinelli said the weight started accumulating after she got pregnant with her first child. “I put it down to my pregnancies.”
“I don’t see why else the weight would go to my hips, although I do eat lots.”
Ruffinelli’s “lots” is 3,000 calories a day. “In the past, I was self-conscious about my hips.”
“As I got older, I learned to love my body and now I’m not afraid to show it off.”
