An elderly woman and her two children were found shot to death late Wednesday afternoon in Sandy Springs, and police are investigating the possibility that it is a murder-suicide.
“All three were dead from gunshot wounds to the head,” Sandy Springs police spokesman Capt. Steve Rose said. “We found the gun near the male victim.”
The three have been identified as Mr. Edith Renner, 89, of Sandy Springs, Mr. Charles Renner IV, 45, of Kennesaw, and Ms. Suzanne Marie Renner, 49, of Sandy Springs, police said.
The investigation unfolded shortly before 4 p.m. when one of the son’s co-workers found the bodies and called 911, Capt. Rose said.
The co-worker went in search for Mr. Renner at his Cobb County home when he didn’t show up for a morning meeting, Capt. Rose said.
Mr. Renner’s wife told him that her husband frequently checked on his mother in Sandy Springs.
The co-worker showed up at the home at 52 Brandon Ridge and, possibly through the large bay window in the front, saw one of the victims, Capt. Rose said.
Mother and son were sitting in separate chairs in the living room with gunshot wounds to their heads, the captain said.
The daughter was outside on the back porch, also dead from a gunshot wound to the head.
Police are waiting on a ballistic report to see if the gun found next to the son is the one used to shoot all three, Capt. Rose said.
