Amidst the news about the upcoming Princess Diana film, featuring Naomi Watts, there remains one question: will the film provide any depth - or indeed, even mention - of the bulimia that tormented Diana throughout her marriage and its dissolution?
After years of attempting to hide her eating disorder, Princess Diana did, towards the end, become honest about her bulimia. NBC's "secret tapes" quoted her as saying: ""Bulimia started the week after we got engaged. My husband put his hand on my waistline and said: "Oh, a bit chubby here, aren't we?" That triggered off something in me."
And when Diana first forced herself to vomit, beginning her eating disorders struggle, she felt that "it relieved me of tension".Her husband's unfaithfulness made it worse: "This Camilla thing, you see, I was desperate, desperate. I ate everything I could possibly find and I was sick as a parrot that night. It was such an indication of what was going on," Diana said.
