Reiki, a form of energy medicine that originated in Japan in the 1930s, is able to move and release blocks of energy in the body that are causing various ailments, helping to relieve both physical and spiritual pain.
Reiki treatments are becoming more mainstream as the world at large becomes more open to incorporating alternative health treatments into their "Wellness Tool Kits;" however, many are still unclear of the wide-range of benefits Reiki treatments offer.
Here are just a few reasons why Reiki is an excellent treatment for what ails you:
1) It's non-invasive. Unlike other forms of energy medicine such as acupuncture or acupressure, Reiki does not involve any discomfort to the client. Reiki is typically done by the practitioner gently placing his/her hands on the client and letting the Reiki flow.
2) Results can be instantaneous. In situations of pain or anxiety, most clients experience some amount of pain relief or stress reduction during and immediately after a treatment. Headaches and morning sickness seem to respond exceptionally well to Reiki treatments.
3) It's safe. Reiki can be safely used in conjunction with all other forms of treatments, including medications and in no way interferes with the other treatments effectiveness.
4) It feels good. Most Reiki clients leave a Reiki treatment in a deeply-relaxed and sometimes blissful state of being. It is not uncommon for clients to see colors, feel "lighter," or experience pleasant warmth or tingling sensations during a Reiki treatment.
5) It works, whether you believe it will or not. Reiki helps induce healing whether you think it will or not; however, allowing yourself to be open to the energy will enable it to permeate your being more easily, but this is in no way a requirement for the Reiki to “work” as it does and will regardless.
This list is just a sample of some of the reasons one should add Reiki to his/her wellness toolkit. For those new to or skeptical of Reiki, the only way to find out whether or not this form of healing resonates with you is by scheduling a treatment with a local practitioner. Keep in mind that each individual experience is unique during and after a Reiki treatment, so it is best to go in with an open mind and without expectations.
At the very least, you will walk away from a treatment feeling relaxed, but you may find Reiki to be a powerful tool for more overall wellness and peace in your life.
