Let’s kick off Bastille Day at Bonjour Bakery & Café with Chef Gerard and his staff at the 6070 Falls Road location. This year’s celebration will be smaller than usually since Bonjour Bakery is building a larger facility to create their mouth-watering sweet and savory edibles. For Bastille Day, stop by and sample their delicious baked treats, and enjoy a complimentary small coffee, hot or iced, with your purchase of $5 or more (sorry, no coffee card credit).
The email from Chef Gerard at Bonjour Bakery advises, “He has long wanted a space at Bonjour where he could create his delicious sweet and savory treats, and now it is almost ready! In late July or early August, you'll begin to notice the sweet smell of baking emanating from the rear of the Bonjour building. What this means for all of our friends and customers is the freshest, tastiest and most innovative French inspired bakery products.” The also said they will be expanding their menu items to include more savory breakfast and lunch items as well as interesting new additions to our dessert menu.
Carrying on the French theme for Bastille Day at the same location as Bonjour Bakery & Café, Haute Dog will be offering “Chien Chaud” between 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Neighboring Ivy Bookstore will have a guest author reading in the Lake Falls Village at 7 p.m featuring Francois Furstenberg, author of When The United State Spoke French.
Petit Louis Bistro 4800 Roland Avenue is celebrating from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. with a special menu of French fare, red berets and blue mustaches. Cost is $50 per person – call for reservations.
If you are heading to Hampden check out Ma Petite Shoe and CHOUX Café will make you sway with their French music, tantalize your sweet cravings with chocolate tastings. Enjoy Vichyssoise and gougère from noon to five p.m. 832 W 36th Street
In Mt Washington Village, Crepe Du Jour French Bistro is offering up wine specials, fireworks and the one in the best “French” costume can win dinner for two.
