We the People pay for the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and its operations. What is it supposed to be doing, by an act of legislation? Is its actions and leadership accomplishing what Americans need and want?
Go the website for this committee: http://oversight.house.gov/. See the picture post of the cover page. It shows Kathleen Sebelius taking the stand to testify about the Obamacare start-up problems. That is a fair inquiry as there have been problems. What the committee wants to know is what caused the problems, delays, and deficient performance. They want to know how well the contractors performed and how well they were supervised in developing the system.
One allegation by the committee is that Sebelius was not forthcoming in what she knew.
It seems at this point that The White House and Health and Human Services have addressed the problems openly and aggressively, so that matter should be shut.
Another matter was the mismanagement and apparent political activity by the IRS in treating not for profit political organizations, especially the conservative ones that were aligned with the Tea Party. That is a mixed bag because the practices and intentions of some of these organizations likely crossed the legal lines for their operation. The aggressiveness by the IRS appeared to have been accelerated politically.
Time is up on the IRS investigation. Executive replacements have been made and changes in procedures as a result of previous investigations, so furthering this by Chairman Issa is just another version of political abuse.
So is continuing the investigation into Fast and Furious and Benghazi. Those things have long since been put to bed.
Yet, since Darrell Issa persists in wasting Americans’ scarce resources, how about let’s all open the book on Darrell Issa. That wealthy guy is a crook and a convicted criminal. How is it that he is allowed to serve in the “Oversight Chairman” role? Does not the Republican Party have any more control and conscience than to have him lead this responsibility. Open the book on Darrell Issa to see the absurdity of the situation. American voters in California need to clean up their act.
“Rep. Darrell Issa's agenda in 2014: IRS, Benghazi and Fast and Furious
By Molly K. Hooper - 01/12/14 06:00 AM EST
Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) in 2014 will pursue the IRS scandal, the deadly Benghazi attack and the botched Fast and Furious operation in what will likely be his last year as the House GOP's chief investigator.”
