A Chicago teenager is in custody this morning after a decapitated corpse was discovered by police around 2:00 a.m. on Christmas Day. Authorities were summoned to the macabre scene yesterday morning.

According to the Chicago Tribune: "Police were called to the 2500 block of North Kildare Avenue about 2:05 a.m. by someone who reported a homicide ..."

The headless body of an unnamed 41-year-old man was found inside a basement apartment. Authorities also discovered a knife nearby. Outside, an anonymous 18-year-old male was arrested by authorities "without incident." Chicago police have yet to ascertain the motive for the crime, and the relationship between the two men is as yet unknown.

Area detectives are currently investigating the crime further before levelling charges against the young man.

Oddly enough, this is the second time in as many weeks that Illinois has had decapitation in the news. On the 17th, a Morristown man admitted to beheading a man who was interested in his girlfriend.

Hey Jackass! - a site dedicated to covering violence in Chicago - reports that more than 440 murders have occurred in the city this year alone.
