Spanish Gold w/ Clear Plastic Masks - The Parish - 8 p.m. - Sold Out
If you have not heard about new supergroup, Spanish Gold who sold out The Parish and performed on Late Night with David Letterman, you will soon. The trio was formed when Adrian Quesada (Grupo Fantasma, Brownout), Patrick Hallahan (My Morning Jacket) and Dante Schwebel (Hacienda) joined forces late last year, making a splash at South by Southwest (SXSW) in March with a slew of performances including Rachel Ray's Feedback event at Stubb's which reached capacity long before they hit the stage.
Their new album produced at Dan Auerbach's Easy Eye Studio in Nashville and at Public Hi-Fi in Austin by Jim Eno (Spoon) and Big Orange with Sam Patlove (Octopus Project) producing. Their sound has a vaguely 60's psych rock feel with undercurrents of soul and hip-hop. The record, "South of Nowhere" dropped May 27. Stream new music by Spanish Gold and see what the buzz is about.

Spirit Animal w/ Stoney and AJ Vincent - Gypsy Lounge - 8:30 p.m. - $8 ($10 door)
Brooklyn indie rockers, Spirit Animal have made a name for themselves by delivering electric live shows. Front man Steve Cooper knows how to wind up an audience while his band wails away behind him. The band's 2013 single, "The Black Jack White" earned the band buzz worthy status on MTV and the single made it into the MTVu rotation. The band calls forth a certain nostalgia for hard driving rock and roll.
"These boys are the future," proclaimed ARTISTdirect, "it's the kind of fiery and ferocious music that the world rarely gets anymore."
Check out their track, "BST Friends" on Soundcloud then grab tickets to this performance at Gypsy Lounge. The venue put in an outdoor stage for SXSW last March upping their live music game. AJ Vincent (formerly of Bright Light Social Hour) and Stoney open.
Jeff Tweedy ACL TV taping - ACL Live - Free - 8 p.m.
Wilco's Jeff Tweedy has performed on the PBS show Austin City Limits with his band Wilco twice returns as a solo artist on Friday.
