On Oct. 19, Disney Parks and Resorts released information on what’s happening for New Year’s Eve 2011 as Walt Disney World Resort prepares to ring in 2012.
As Disney prepares to ring in the new year on Dec. 31, 2011, the theme parks will offers their classic nighttime shows with holiday touches while select resorts host special entertainment.
Magic Kingdom
Magic Kingdom will offers two nighttime fireworks shows on Dec. 31. “Wishes,” with a holiday overlay will take place at 8:30 p.m. “Fantasy in the Sky” will take place at 11:5 p.m, prior to the New Year 2012 countdown.
Epcot
“IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth,” Epcot’s nighttime spectacular the takes place at the World Showcase Lagoon, will celebrate the approach of the new year with shows at 7:00 and 11:42 p.m.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Disney’s Hollywood Studios will offer two opportunities to see “Fantasmic!” The dramatic laser and fireworks show that incorporates water, fire, character and music will be presented at 6:30 and 8:00 p.m. The cap to an evening at DHS will be the midnight “lights! Camera! Happy New Year!” fireworks show.
Downtown Disney
Cirque du Soleil, at Downtown Disney West Side, is again making its New Year’s Eve performances of “La Nouba” extra memorable, with a special finale. All guests who attend the Dec. 31 shows, at 6:00 and 9:00 p.m will receive a limited-edition Walt Disney World/Cirque trading pin and specialty beverages will be available to purchase. Update, Nov. 29: DisneyQuest, also at West Side, will hold its family party on Dec. 31 from 8:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Ticket prices cost $45 in advance, $55 for day-of tickets, including tax. Disney’s BoardWalk area
Guests, 21 years and older, who want to dance their way into 2012 think about attending the New Year’s Eve party at Atlantic Dance Hall at Disney’s BoardWalk area. The party, with video DJ Tony Zapulla, will take place from 8:00 – 2:00 p.m. The party includes a champagne toast at midnight and party favors.

Disney Resort hotels
Guests can also celebrate New Year’s Eve 2011 at select Disney resort hotels at Walt Disney World with various experiences: dining, music and entertainment. For specific information about other New Year’s Eve holiday dining experiences s at Disney resort hotels, call 407-WDW-DINE (939-3463).
Note: Guests should be aware Walt Disney World has holiday pricing structure for some Disney restaurants from mid-December through early January. For restaurants that offer special dining events or meals on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, expect higher prices to be in effect.
One example of New Year’s Eve 2011 dining at Disney resort hotels: Narcoosee’s, a table-service restaurant at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, will offer a four-course dining experience for $149 per person. The evening includes a DJ, balloon artist and special Magic Kingdom fireworks viewing for the 8:30 and 11:51 p.m. displays.
It may seem a bit earlier to think about 2012. But guests who want to celebrate New Year’s Eve 2011 while at Walt Disney World will want to make plans for these holiday happenings as soon as possible; the week between Christmas and New Year’s is among the busiest periods at Disney.
