Katy Perry will close out the VMAs under the iconic Brooklyn Bridge as the awards' ceremony finale performance Sunday night. Us Weekly reports Aug. 25 that singer will perform her newest single, "Roar," under the bridge after the VMAs' live coverage at Barclay's Center in Brooklyn.
The report said initially the plan for Perry was to perform at the top of the Brooklyn Bridge, but the city was unwilling to give her the permit.
"Roar" is Perry's debut single from her third album, "Prism." So far it has sold 557,000 digital downloads in its first week of release, Us reports. It even beat Lady Gaga's "Applause" for the pace of download sales in its first week. Gaga's sold 218,000 downloads in the first week from her upcoming album, "Artpop."
Lady Gaga will open the 2013 VMAs, which will air live on MTV and have live streaming. The show begins at 9 p.m., ET/6 p.m., PT. Red carpet appearances launch at 6 p.m., ET/3 p.m., PT.
A whole list of performers will be on-hand, including Justin Timberlake, Macklemore, Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, One Direction, and many more. An N'Sync reunion is expected to be the main event of the entire VMA 2013 show.
Katy Perry will no doubt give an incredible performance under the Brooklyn Bridge after what's expected to be one of the more exciting VMAs. This year no host will keep things running, but a long list of music's hottest musicians will all participate. This is sure to make viewers more interested!
