The Trade Show News Network (TSNN) has named Las Vegas as the Top US Trade Show Destination for the 20th consecutive year. In 2013, Las Vegas played host to 53 of the nation's largest trade shows. The largest single trade show in the nation was the 2013 International Consumer Electronics Show held at the Las Vegas Convention Center in early January.
Overall, Las Vegas hosted over 22,000 meetings / conventions that attracted over 5.1 million attendees last year. The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) reported the local convention industry produced an economic impact of $7.4 billion and supported over 61,000 jobs in 2013.
The two closest US destination competitors were Chicago (29 shows) and Orlando (24 shows). TSNN rankings are based on total square footage of staged trade shows.
The LVCVA is developing the new Las Vegas Global Business District, a $2.5 billion renovation of the Las Vegas Convention Center. The project involves new meeting rooms, a conference facility, a trade center, and a multimodal transportation center to accommodate future meetings and conventions in the area. The renovation project will reportedly require 8 - 10 years for completion.
