Urgent red light plea to rescue St. Bernard from Calif. shelter

Owner surrendered this nine-year-old St. Bernard mix. Volunteers describe him as a love. Won't someone help him before it's too late?

UPDATE: Pancho has been adopted and is safe with his new family. Thank you everyone for sharing his story, telling your friends, and helping to find this beautiful dog another chance at a great life.

Pancho, a nine-year-old St. Bernard rough coated mix was overlooked on Saturday as he tried to smile for families at the Cinco De Mayo Pet Adoption Event for the Moreno Valley Animal Shelter.

Described by volunteers to be very gentle and sweet, Pancho has been at the shelter since April 30, and this neutered male - so pretty with his brown and white fluffy coat needs a home as soon as possible.

Sadly, Pancho was an owner surrender; too old, too much trouble, or let's find a puppy mentality by his former family? Tragically, most surrendered dogs are only held for three days before they are euthanized if not adopted.

The Pet Adoption Event will be held Saturday, May 3, Sunday May 4, and Monday May 5th, from 9:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at The Moreno Valley Animal Shelter located at 14041 Elsworth St., Moreno Valley.

All dog adoptions at the event will be offered at a reduced rate of $50.00 and cat adoptions will be offered at a reduced rate of $25.00. All pets will be neutered or spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations.

Follow Pancho's Facebook thread as volunteers and animal advocates help to spread this dog's story and help him find a loving home. Please share his story with your friends, family, and coworkers. Only one special person for Pancho is needed.
