(Update) 2009 VMAs: Alicia Keys to join Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift

MTV has confirmed that Jay-Z and Alicia Keys will perform the song "Empire State of Mind", part of Jay-Z's new album, The Blueprint 3, at the upcoming 2009 VMAs. (End of update.) 

According to reports, Alicia Keys will perform a duet with Jay-Z at the upcoming 2009 Video Music Awards, joining a list of artists on stage that includes Beyoncé, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift.

Several media, including Singersroom, report that Alicia Keys and Jay-Z will sing "Empire State of Mind" together at the 2009 VMAs.

Reportedly, Alicia Keys' producing partner, Kerry "Krucial" Brothers, has said that the event will be followed by a new single. There is no release date for the track yet, but it would be part of multiple award winning Keys' stilll untitled fourth studio album.

This would be the first time Alicia Keys and Jay-Z perform the song together. Furthermore, Beyoncé, and Lady Gaga, each of them nominated for nine awards, as well as Green Day, Pink, Muse and Taylor Swift are also set to perform that night.

The 2009 Video Music Awards, hosted by Russell Brand, air live on September 13th at 9pm EST on MTV.
