A Florida man unhappy with neighbor complaints about his masturbation habits remained Wednesday in the Hillsborough County Jail on first-degree arson of a dwelling charges after police say he set fire to his apartment, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Exacting revenge upon apartment management, Kenneth Haskins set fire to the kitchen and bedroom of his unit following tenant complaints that he regularly pleasured himself in front of the windows or an open door of his Mar Plaza Apartment at 4817 E Temple Heights Road, near Busch Boulevard and N 56th Street, in Tampa.

Four people were left homeless as a result of the fire, according to Tampa Fire Rescue officials, which broke out just after 10 p.m. Monday night.

Haskins, who lived alone in the apartment, later told police detectives that he wanted to get back at the company that managed the apartment complex.

An investigation revealed that the fire originated in two separate areas - a bedroom and the kitchen - inside Haskins' apartment, according to a police report. Fire investigators determined that flammable liquids were spread to start the blaze.

“It appears that this Haskins fellow has some mental issues that should be addressed.” Fort Lauderdale criminal defense attorney John Contini, author of several real-life crime dramas including Danger Road and Feeling the Heat, told Examiner. “Between shooting himself in the face, allegedly masturbating in public view and setting his apartment on fire, his behavior is certainly questionable.”

According to police, Haskins had been repeated requested to stop masturbating in front of his open windows and front door.

Haskins, who suffers from a facial disfigurement after shooting himself in the face with a shotgun, is facing thirty years in state prison if convicted and a fine of up to $10,000.00.
