Tulisa Contostavlos is denying a tabloid report that says she has left ITV's "The X Factor" U.K. and that Sharon Osbourne is replacing her. The Daily Star Sunday published an article on January 13, 2013 that claims:
- Contostavlos is leaving the show because she hates working with fellow judge Nicole Scherzinger.
- Lenny Kravitz is in talks to replace Gary Barlow as a judge on "The X Factor" U.K.
- Contostavlos had a massive argument with "X Factor" producers and she will say she quit before she can be fired.
Although an official announcement has not been made yet about which judges will be on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2013, British tabloids have been reporting for months that Contostavlos and Barlow will be leaving the show.
An unnamed source told the Daily Star Sunday: “Tulisa had a blazing row with producers when she found out Nicole was coming back. She can’t stand working with her and Tulisa is not enjoying the job at all. The producers couldn’t wait to get rid of her. She turned her dressing room into a nightclub and would boom out loud music. Despite leading Little Mix to victory in [2011], she wasn’t as available to her acts off-stage as people think. Tulisa got the hump when she was warned about her behavior.”
For now, representatives for the show aren't commenting on any changes that will be made in 2013. And Barlow isn't commenting either.
However, Contostavlos (who goes by the one-word stage name Tulisa) is commenting. She is often quick to go on Twitter to say if tabloid rumors about her are false. After the Daily Star Sunday article was published, she tweeted on January 13, 2013: "Some1 at a certain paper has a very wild imagination 2day,really dont understand how certaina media are allowed to print complete lies #SAD"
In several interviews, Contostavlos and Scherzinger have denied rumors that they do not like each other. Although they both admit to having very different personalities, Contostavlos and Scherzinger say that they there's been no tension between them and that they like and respect each other.
However, sources have told British tabloids that it's not Contostavlos' relationship with Scherzinger that is putting her at risk of being fired. It's the controversy that Contostavlos generates off-stage. She has been in several profanity-filled feuds on Twitter, where she often brags about her drunken partying and curses out people in arguments. She's also gotten increasing backlash from the public, as she has had thousands of people "unfollow" her on Twitter and more and more criticism from people on the Internet.
Her job performance on "The X Factor" in 2012 also went downhill, as her highest-ranking contestant of the year was Ella Henderson, who came in sixth place.
Louis Walsh and Scherzinger are expected to remain as "X Factor" U.K. judges. Walsh has been with the show since its 2004 debut, while Scherzinger joined in June 2012.
Contostavlos and Barlow joined "The X Factor" U.K. in May 2011. Contostavlos replaced Cheryl Cole, while Barlow replaced Simon Cowell. Kelly Rowland of Destiny's Child fame replaced Dannii Minogue in 2011, but Rowland lasted just one season before she too exited, reportedly because of disagreements over her "X Factor" salary and time commitment. Scherzinger replaced Rowland.
Barlow has been dropping hints in the media about his dissatisfaction with "The X Factor." In 2012, he admitted that he and "The X Factor" executive producer Simon Cowell have been feuding over Barlow's role on the show.
It's been rumored for the past several months that Osbourne would be returning to "The X Factor" U.K., ever since she announced on Twitter in August 2012 that she wanted to come back to the show in 2013. She was a judge on "The X Factor" U.K. from 2004 to 2007. She said in several interviews that she quit because she no longer wanted to work with Minogue, who was a judge on "The X Factor" U.K. from 2007 to 2010. The two women had notorious personality clashes on camera and off camera.
If Osbourne becomes a judge on "The X Factor" U.K. again, then she will most definitely have to leave the Los Angeles-based CBS weekday chat show "The Talk," which she has been co-hosting since its 2010 debut. In 2012, Osbourne quit the judging panel of NBC's "America's Got Talent" after five years with the show. The Daily Mirror reported that Osbourne secretly met with "X Factor" U.K. executives in November 2012 to discuss the possibility of Osbourne replacing Contostavlos on the show.
However, it seems very far-fetched that Kravitz would want to be a judge on a TV talent show, since he's shown no previous interest in being a guest mentor or guest judge on these types of shows. And he doesn't seem like the type of artist who would want to be a judge on "The X Factor" since he tours a lot and he's seems so conscious of being an artist who doesn't want to sit in judgment of other singers.
