On Feb. 26, the second season of “Celebrity Wife Swap” premieres and it stars mother of eight Kate Gosselin, who swaps places with former playmate Kendra Wilkinson Baskett. To promote the premiere, Kate appeared on “The View” on Tuesday and talked about her return to reality TV. Concerning her swap experience, she stated, “We both came away learning something.” She added that her kids gave their approval to do “Celebrity Wife Swap,” but ex-husband Jon had no say in the matter.
In each episode of “Celebrity Wife Swap,” two mothers from very different types of households swap lifestyles and children during a 7-day challenge. During the first part of the week, the moms agree to follow a manual written by the departing mother. In the second half of the week, everything changes when the new moms take charge, introduce new rules and run the household their way. At the end of the week, the two celebrities meet for the first time to discuss their experiences.
Jon and Kate Gosselin starred in a reality TV series called “Jon & Kate Plus 8." It debuted in 2007 and was changed to “Kate Plus 8” in 2009, following their very public break-up. “Kate Plus 8” was canceled, as was “Twist of Kate.” Since then, Kate has appeared on “The View” several times as a guest host. She has said many times that she would like a career in television.
Kate Gosselin is no longer married to Jon and is not dating anyone. Her sextuplets are now 8 years old and her twin girls are 10. She is a single parent and runs a very structured household, which was quite daunting to her “Celebrity Wife Swap” partner Kendra. Kate claims that she has loosened up since the early days of “Jon & Kate Plus 8,” but her household manual had her routine detailed down to the minute of each day. When asked why she was chosen to appear on “Celebrity Wife Swap” when she isn’t married, Gosselin said, “ABC wanted to change it up a little bit.”
Kendra Wilkinson is married to former NFL football player Hank Baskett. Their son, Hank, Jr., celebrated his third birthday in December 2012. In 2005, Kendra packed her bags, moved into the famous Playboy Mansion and starred in “The Girls Next Door.” Like Kate, she also competed on “Dancing with the Stars.”
Kendra’s laid-back California lifestyle is hugely different from Kate’s in Pennsylvania. The ex-Playmate told Xfinity, “Oh, my God. It was a roller coaster ride I’ll never forget. It was a whirlwind for me.”
On Tuesday, Kate Gosselin said that she learned a few things from her experience on “Celebrity Wife Swap.” She also stated that her kids had fun, but were glad to see their mom return home. To watch Kate and Kendra switch places, tune into the season premiere of “Celebrity Wife Swap,” which airs at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
