The West Texas Running Club hosts their Toys For Tots Redline cross-country race this Saturday, December 14th at Mae Simmons Park. This is the club’s only cross country race. The event includes a 1-mile kids fun run and a 4-mile option for ages 10 and older. The kids race starts at 9:30am and the 4-mile race starts at 10am. Parents are encouraged to run with their children (registration not required for parent runners).
Registration is $5 for running club members and children under 13 and $15 for all others. Online registration runs through Thursday, December 12th at 6pm. There will be no race day registration. Packet pickup is at the Mae Simmons Community Center on race day prior to 9am. All runners are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy to donate to Toys for Tots.
This is a great cross country course. There are several steep but short hills. The course itself consists of some grassy sections and some trail-like sections with dirt and rocks. If you’re not used to running trails, this race is a great opportunity to take advantage of this course. Your times will be a little slower than the road, but you’ll definitely feel the burn more!
