Tropeano, Cantwell selected in MLB draft

Stony Brook ace Nick Tropeano and catcher Pat Cantwell were selected in the 2011 Major League Baseball First Year Player draft.

Tropeano, a two-time all-American, went in the fifth round, 160th overall, to the Houston Astros.

Cantwell was selected with the fourth pick of the 39th round by the Baltimore Orioles.

Seawolves baseball ended the season on a disappointing note, exiting the America East championship tournament in just three games after setting a school record with 42 wins and earning the school's first regular season America East championship in baseball.

Tropeano set an America East record for wins in a season (12) and strikeouts (119) on his way to America East Pitcher of the Year honors. He ranked second in the country in victories, and was one of 25 finalists for the College Baseball Hall of Fame Pitcher of the Year award.

Cantwell, a first team All-America East selection, hit .308 with 14 doubles, throwing out an America East-best 16 of 26 base-stealers.
