David Codrea over at The War on Guns points out this article about the latest attempt to redefine the recent DC v. Heller Second Amendment SCOTUS case in the oh-so-fashionable mold of anything the government says is reasonable, must in fact be reasonable, because we're the government and we say so.
It was this passage of [DC Atty Gen Peter] Nickles' apologia totalitaria that stuck out at me the most:
"The District's regulation of handguns at issue here is squarely in the mainstream and eminently reasonable, minimally intruding on the right announced in Heller to bear arms for the protection of 'hearth and home,' while at the same time safeguarding public safety under traditional police powers," Nickles wrote, asking that the plaintiffs lawsuit be dismissed.
Hm. "traditional police powers"...
Exactly what tradition are we discussing here, fellas?
Might it be this one?
Or this one?
Perhaps this one?
Or maybe this one?
This one?
Gee, those are all so "over there". Possibly something closer to home?
I would say, "aw, you get the idea," but apparently these people don't. It's either that, or perhaps they really are trying like hell to catch us up to the big players--and hardly even bothering to disguise it any more.
How about this idea? NO.

Exactly. We say "NO," in every way possible, as individuals and voluntary organizations.
We can also "vote with our feet" - move to a freer place and refuse to give such evil people the support provided by the property they steal as "taxes." How would they continue such violence against the people if the city were empty of all but the politicians and bureaucrats themselves? They can't do much without victims.
Writing letters and making phone calls may be a lot more convenient, but only direct and personal action will ever make any real difference.
No. (Racks slide) Knowwhatahmean?
This is a reminder for those of us who may have forgotten:
"Government is not reason. Government is not eloquence. It is force. And, like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master." - George Washington
Bein on the outside looking in and all, I know just enough about the circumstances in the District of Criminals to render an opinion as to what the eventual outcome will be.
Once all the details have been hashed out, the model for Federal registration, licensing, taxation, fees and all the rest will be firmly established, eventually to be implemented on the Federal level as Federal laws applying to every person in every State.
( More or less an no-brainer in my opinion )
Got something to say?
