Ever since the tragic shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, liberals have sought to blame Sarah Palin and the Tea Party for the attack.
Shortly after the shooting, Jane Fonda sent out tweets blaming Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck and the Tea Party.
Encouraged by irresponsible and shameful reporting, a number of twitter users have expressed their desire to see Sarah Palin dead, and some tweets actually call for her assassination.
“So…will everyone be satisfied then when Palin is assassinated? You know she’s next,” writes one twitter user.
According to a report at The Blaze, some are downright vulgar:
“Palin is a murdering bi*** who deserves a crosshair on HER house so Al-Qaeda can come shoot HER family. See how that feels, republican trash.”
But according to the mainstream media, this type of rhetoric only comes from the right. So far, no one in the media has mentioned these attacks.
Hatred of the Palins is nothing new. Conservative columnist Michelle Malkin highlights some of the insane hatred - which has been dubbed "Palin Derangement Syndrome" - directed at Palin since she was selected by John McCain as his Vice Presidential running mate.
Members of her family have come under similar attacks.
Bristol Palin was savaged during and after her appearance on Dancing with the Stars, and Kathy Griffin recently said she was targeting 16-year-old Willow Palin in 2011.
Where is the media? Where are the authorities? Do they see nothing nothing wrong with the threats and mindless attacks?
Instead of engaging in "ideological warfare", pundits like Ed Schultz should be calling on their base to focus on issues and stop the mindless hate.
President Obama has a golden opportunity to lead on this issue. He can easily defuse the hatred expressed by his base and his followers in the mainstream press with a simple statement, but so far, he has failed to do so.
Instead, some of his advisors see the shooting as a chance to attack the Tea Party and advance his agenda, much in the same way President Clinton did after the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing.
If anything happens to the former Alaska Governor, the mainstream media will be responsible.

They came first for the Communists,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew.
Then they came for me
and by that time no one was left to speak up.
Here is the 2011 version:
They came first for the Communists TALKERS ON RADIO,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Communist TALKER.
Then they came for trade unionists PALIN,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a trade unionist PALIN.
Then they came for the Jews CHURCHES,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew REAL CHURCHGOER.
Then ONE DAY they came for meand by that time no one was left to speak up.
Let that soak in.
What a shock. There are dumb-asses on both "sides". Big newsflash there, Sparky.
So, both groups should tone it down, right? And that would mean that liberals would need to wag a finger of shame at Schultz, etc. AND that conservatives would need to stop pretending like the Palin crosshairs ad are okay.
I'm good with that.
Are you?
Who is defending mass murder? I'd like to know. The only ones I see wanting death are the blind, pathological haters on the left.
Sanders, that is exactly the type of rhetoric Sarah Palin refered to when she spoke of "blood libel". You either need to back up your claim with solid evidence, or retract your argument.
Has it occurred to anyone that this is a hoax? No, of course not. The right needs to believe this is true to justify the hate talk.
The tweets are real. And what "hate talk" are you referring to? Cite actual examples, please. Or do you consider any disagreement with Obama "hate"?
Sanders, back up your claim with solid evidence or retract your statement. That is the "blood libel" Sarah Palin spoke of.
Since when does Jane Fonda's tweeting bear any weight on political discourse in this country?
At the end of the day's news cycle, each and every politician is responsible for the words they choose, including the left and the right. Rather than take responsibility and admit that the rhetoric needs to be toned down, it is quite disgraceful how certain groups are on the defensive about the motivation behind Giffords' shooting. What is put out there in the world, including the names of Congressmen with target shots, does encourage hate, regardless of whether there is any correlation between that act and this shooting. And the same goes for democrats. This article is irresponsible and misleading, to say the least.
