It is the dawning of the Age of the Ancient Grain. Asked to predict popular nutrition and diet trends for 2014, registered dietitians offered their insights in a new survey, revealed Convenience Store News on Dec. 30. In the survey of dietitians, the winning trends include:
- Gluten-free and wheat-free diets will continue to be popular in 2014. These experts noted that a variety of diets fall into this category, such as "Wheat Belly" and the Paleo diet. Learn more about the Paleo diet by clicking here.
- Ancient grains also score, such as quinoa.
- Healthy fats reign, including chia seeds and coconut oil.

Taking a different perspective, CBS News unveiled its own set of 2014 diet trend predictions on Dec. 30. With two-thirds of U.S. adults ranking in the overweight/obese category, the trends offered here weigh in on different ways to shed the pounds:
