Tony Sheridan's ex-wife says memorials today for singer are 'united'

The ex-wife of the late Beatles mentor Tony Sheridan sent a message Monday to the organizers of the U.S. memorial that the two ceremonies being held today in the U.S. and Germany are “united.”

“Dearest Robbie, today we are all united , a loving community of many people who intend to honor Tony. Life, music and his spirit, wonderful! I am also with you in the heart!,” hie ex-wife, Monika, wrote to Dave and Robbie Humphries.

Dual memorials for Sheridan are being held Monday in Hamburg, Germany, and San Diego, Ca. Dave Humphries said the San Diego event will be an intimate gathering and he posted on Facebook that “ After memorial, we (will) be in the Pub and celebrating Tony's life. Cheers!”

A tribute concert is also planned in Hamburg on April 13. Performers will include Ted “Kingsize” Taylor, who played with the Beatles in Hamburg, Brian Parrish, Neil Landon, Karl Terry and others.

Sheridan died Feb. 16 in Hamburg. He had been ill for several months. He had performed as the featured guest at the San Diego Beatlefair last year. Dave Humphries talked about his friend in a special interview on our "Things We Said Today" Beatles news podcast.
