A major title changed hands at the TNA Impact Wrestling tapings in Manchester on Jan. 25 during their tour of the U.K. Two episodes of the television show taped on that day and the storylines led to Bobby Roode and Austin Aries winning the TNA tag team titles.
The story has been building for over a month now, with Roode and Aries forming a tag team, despite their dislike for each other. Their individual arrogance has led to their entertaining interactions ever since. They targeted Chavo Guerrero and Hernandez and challenged for the tag team titles and that led to the European tour.
On the first episode of Impact taped, Austin Aries challenged Chavo Guerrero to fight, with the stipulation being that if Aries won, they would get a title shot at the next show. Aries won that match, and that led to their match for the next week's tapings. With both shows taped in the same day, that meant the title match was fought later on the card.
In the TNA World Tag Team Championship match, Aries and Roode went on to win the tag team titles.
The win makes Aries a Triple Crown winner in TNA, having held the X-Division title, World Championship and Tag Team Championship belts. For Roode, he has now enjoyed seven different tag team title reigns in TNA, twice with Eric Young, four times with James Storm and now once with Austin Aries.
