Actor Timothy Dalton has joined the cast of Showtime's new drama series "Penny Dreadful," according to an Aug. 23, 2013 media announcement from Showtime Television Network. Dalton joins recently announced stars Josh Hartnett and Eva Green in the cast of the frightening psychological thriller.
Elegant, classically trained actor Timothy Dalton is famed as one of the "007" actors in the very popular series of "James Bond" films ("The Living Daylights" and "License to Kill"). In addition to his "James Bond" films, Dalton is usually a suave leading man with several credits in movies, mini-series and stage.

Dalton is set to play “Sir Malcolm,” a hardened African explorer on a deeply personal quest in "Penny Dreadful." Dalton joins Josh Harntett and Eva Green in the monster series. Hartnett takes the role of charming American Ethan Chandler, who finds himself trapped in the darkest corners of Victorian London Green plays Vanessa Ives, a seductive and formidable beauty full of secrets and danger.
"Penny Dreadful" is a thriller created, written and executive produced by three-time Oscar nominee John Logan "(Hugo," "The Aviator," "Gladiator) and executive produced by Logan's Desert Wolf Productions, along with Oscar winner Sam Mendes ("American Beauty," "Skyfall") and Pippa Harris ("Revolutionary Road," "Call The Midwife" ), both of Neal Street. The first two episodes of the series will be directed by Juan Antonio Bayona, who helmed "The Orphanage"and "The Impossible." There are a total of eight episodes schedules. Filming will begin this fall for a spring 2014 premiere on Showtime.
