'The Walking Dead' 2013: More main characters to die-off in season 3

“The Walking Dead” continues with the second half of season 3 Sunday night after a couple of months hiatus. According to Comic Book.com on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, there are five characters that could die between now and the season’s end.

AMC’s “The Walking Dead” has already pulled the plug on some main characters and surprised their devoted fans. One of the biggest unexpected deaths was Lori's, who died during childbirth. In recent interviews, the producers and cast of “The Walking Dead” have indicated that a few more of the regular characters on the show could see their demise.

Now that a new group of people, who look like nice folks, have made their way into the prison, it almost feels as if “The Walking Dead” creators are replenishing Rick’s group of survivors. This makes sense because they’ve lost so many of the main players since the first season.

One of the lives that may be in jeopardy in this new world of zombies, is the baby’s. Newborn baby Judith is one of the possible characters that won’t be around at the end of season 3, according to Comic Book.com.

This website also thinks that Carol, Alex, Andrea and Glenn are the possible expendable characters this season, but Glenn and Maggie’s young love has been a great side story line on “The Walking Dead.” Would they really do away with Glenn?

Andrea started off in season one as a woman contemplating suicide after losing her younger sister to a walker. She’s come a long way and is now a strong and independent woman. Setting her up for a hero’s death is a possibility and really the only way out that would do her justice.

Alex is the last of the prisoners and one of the newer characters on this show. Pulling the plug on his character wouldn’t be as dramatic as seeing someone like Carol lose their life. It’s hard to think that “The Walking Dead” writers would want Carol to die because fans are still waiting for her to hook up with Daryl. She's already asked him if he wanted to do the deed with her, but it shocked him so much that Carol made a joke of it.

“The Walking Dead” hasn’t followed the comic book series to the letter, when it comes to who lives and dies. Glenn gets beaten to death with a baseball bat in the comic book version of “The Walking Dead.” This could be a hint of things to come for this young man, but he is someone that’s become quite endearing to the viewers. The writers can't possibly get rid of too many more key players without changing the dynamics of the show.

The survivors in Rick's group have become one big family and knocking off too many of the folks that viewers have grown to know, would change too much of the show. While the zombies and what they're capable of doing to humans is a big part of the thrills, watching these people who are devoted to each other is another part of "The Walking Dead" that makes it a pleasure to watch.

"The Walking Dead" has come up with the right equation of equal parts horror and family dynamics, so you get the story line of an on-going saga, with the thrills and chills of a thriller with horror scenes. It is entertainment at its best, but without the characters that the fans have watched grow and integrate themselves into this new world, it would just be a take on "The Night of the Living Dead."
