TTXGP electric motorcycle racing is spreading around, with races this weekend in both Canada and the UK. See Lightning strikes in Canada with Lightning Motors win at 3rd TTXGP race for more about the race held in Canada. It was Snetterton which experienced the first of the TTXGP 2010 UK Championship races with a field of 10 teams. Interestingly the UK teams are more closely matched than are the North America teams, with only 2 miles/hr average speed separating the top four finishers, who crossed the finish line within 17 seconds of one another.
In the qualifying round Jenny Tinmouth of Team Agni won the pole position. However, she crashed immediately after the race damaging the bike resulting in the team pulling an all-nighter to repair it for the race. Team Tork won second position on the starting grid, while the other Team Agni bike won third.
In the race Jenny Tinmouth (Team Agni) and Jim Lovell (Team Tork) duked it out with the Tork bike winning out due to “straight line speed”. After falling behind Jim Lovell, Jenny and her team-mate Rob Moon began duking it out for second place. As these bikes were built identically it made for an exciting race with both trading places repeatedly. Jim Lovell was in second place as they crossed the finished line, 1 second apart. In fourth came Pete Ward aboard a Mavizen TX02, crossing the finish line 10 seconds behind the two Team Agni bikes.
The next race in the UK series will be held the weekend of July 23, 24 at Anglesey.
