The champagne glasses were overflowing with the very best of the bubbly as Moët & Chandon filled the flutes of the famous stars that entered the Beverly Hills Hilton to celebrate the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, January 13, 2013. For the past 22 years, this leading luxury champagne has been the official champagne of the event toasting outstanding performances and the lucky winners of the evening.
Earlier in the day, some of the nominees came together as Moët & Chandon presented them with magnums embellished with Swarovski crystals with the names of the nominated films. Seen socializing and anticipating the big event were Amy Adams, Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper.
Moët & Chandon is not only known as one of the world's largest champagne producers and prominent champagne houses but they are also very generous philanthropists. This year they returned to the Red Carpet with their "Toast4aCause" initiative for yet a fourth successful year. This cause honors Hollywood and celebrates Moët's history as the "Champagne of Cinema". Each of the Golden Globe nominees was given the opportunity to raise a toast with Moët & Chandon imperial minis in support of their favorite charities. For each toast raised, the champagne house donated $1,000 to the chosen charity in the nominees' names.
The lovely Julianne Hough adorned in gold sparkles overlaying a white tulle gown, was thrilled to be able to inaugurate this year's "Toast4aCause" and her charity of choice was The Kind Campaign. As soon as Julianne raised her glass, more followed. Julia Louis-Dreyfus toasted Heal the Bay as she also celebrated her birthday with a personalized magnum of champagne embellished with Swarovski crystals. Hayden Panettiere toasted The Whaleman Foundation and Megan Hilty toasted the Joyful Heart Foundation. The stars kept coming eager to recognize the cause they chose to focus on and do what they could to raise awareness and much needed funds. Here are some of the other causes toasted over the course of the evening:
Sean P. Diddy Combs – Breast Cancer Research Foundation
Glenn Close – Bring Change 2 Mind
Kate Hudson – World Wildlife Fund
Hugh Jackman – World Vision
Jon Hamm – St. Jude Children’s Hospital
Debra Messing – PSI
The cameras brought us Amy Poehler and George Clooney sharing a moment as they raised their glasses and eyes transfixed on each other for a laugh.
After the winners were announced and the ceremony came to an end, the party continued into the evening hours as Harvey Weinstein threw a memorable after party that kept the star-studded guests going. Some took to the dance floor like Heidi Klum who ended up dancing on a couch in the middle of the main room. Stars came and stars went and the 'power table' of Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill, Jamie Foxx, Quentin Tarantino and Kerry Washington kept sipping their Moët & Chandon all the while.
Through Moët & Chandon's dedicated efforts and outstanding participation of the stars, "Toast4aCause" managed to raise nearly $200,000 for over 130 charities. It was an evening well worth remembering for all.
