The bond that blossomed not too long ago between skateboarding and deodorants smelled somewhat awkward in the beginning.
After a rather foul start with the “Double Pits to Chesty” campaign with Ryan Sheckler and AXE, the bleak whiff was dully followed by the “Make Moves” promo with Rob Dyrdek and TAG Body Spray.
But, lately, things changed for the better with… the scent of a woman.
She is Leticia Bufoni, the 16-year old skateboarder from Brazil who has been accumulating a sizeable stash of titles in professional contests, like the Maloof Money Cup and Supergirl Pro-Am Jam.
Leticia recently emerged on the October issue of Glamour magazine, on a print ad for the deodorant Secret, where she appears in a photo sequence boardsliding a rail – wearing a red dress and high heels!
Although quite impressive at first look, a behind-the-scenes video (by photographer Ana Paula Negrão, posted on thesideproject.com) reveals that the high heels (and the background) were Photoshopped into the final artwork – Leticia actually wore sneakers and skated in a photo studio.
Despite these enhancements, ultimately the ad is subtle but clever, and brings a new element of freshness to the whole "Smell of a Skater" affair.
Check the Secret site for a flash animation of the trick sequence.
